get a can of starting fluid and spray it into the air intake, if it starts you have a fuel problem. if it doesn't start you have a spark problem

If your Crankshaft Position Sensor failed, your engine won't start.
I think the fuel injectors are "powered" all the time and the CPU grounds each to actuate the actual injection of fuel.
I believe there's a red wire which is common (as in 'one circuit') to all 6 injectors. See if it's powered.

Since your truck was running fine", you can safely assume the compression is good.

How miles on this '97?
P0153 = O2 sensor Circuit Slow, Bank 2/Sensor 1
P0171 = System Too Lean, Bank 1
P0171 = System Too Lean, Bank 2
The 29 year old sensors may be worn out. After getting this engine to fire up, consider changing all 4.

It has 168,000 miles and i was thinking it was gonna be the crank sensor but i thought it would throw a code if that had went bad

well you know its a fuel problem. you say there is fuel pressure to the fuel rail. to start I'd check for voltage to the injectors. look here or google it how to. because it just stopped for sure im guessing its just one thing to look for.
