The truck has been running great, no issues. One day last week I went to start it up, it cranked hard but wouldn’t start. Turned the key off, tried again and it started on the first crank as usual. Drove it all week no problems. Then go to start it, cranks hard but won’t start. I listen but don’t hear the fuel pump prime with key on, it’s usually very easy to hear. Try starter fluid in the intake, still no start. In-line spark tester reveals no spark. That’s when I noticed the CEL does not come on when key is turned to the on position. I guess the bulb could be burnt out, but unlikely since I seem to lose spark and fuel at the same time. Looking for a starting point on diagnostics. Any help would be appreciated.
some dash lights are coming on with key on, battery, abs, check gauges….. no CEL
checked cabin fuse #19 -good 25 amp
checked engine PCM PWR fuse-good 30 amp
swapped PCM PWR relay- no change
PCM pin #97 has 12 volts with key on.
PCM pin #103 is ground with key off.
PCM pin # #2 is ground with key on. (MIL) ground supply.
Wiring diagram shows fuse #34 in cabin supplies MIL power, but slot #34 is empty?
Figured out the CEL bulb was burned out. So CEL is on with key on. Turns off while cranking for few seconds then back on. Possibly a bad crank sensor.
