Grinding noise from bellhousing while coasting
hey yall, 94 4.0 2wd supercab m5r1 lowered about 8"
i'm having a nasty grinding noise while coasting, or maintaining speed downhill in 3rd-5th gear at 2300-3200 rpm, most prominent at 70-75 mph. it sounds like a rotational grinding or scraping that stops only when the truck comes to a stop. the weird part is that it almost sounds like it comes from the bellhousing, but i've been through literally 3 transmissions, and the noise has persisted. it started about 4 years ago when the truck was bone stock and had an A4LD, since then it's on it's second M5R1, and still grinds. my carrier bearing is shimmed about 3°, and my u joints are 2 years old. just wondering if anyone else has had this before. my only thoughts on it are the worn out rear end, or maybe failing u joints. any help is appreciated. video attached is the noise at about 70, letting off in 5th gear.
