05 Ford ranger brake pedal to the floor
05 Ford ranger brake pedal to the floor
Installed a new starter on my 05 ford ranger. After pulling out of garage the pedal went to the floor and I realized I blew a brake line going from the front to the rear. No big deal I had the stuff to make a new line and fix it. By the time I made a new line and got it installed the master cylinder had drained. I refilled and bled the brakes, removing any air I could see. However the pedal continued to go to the floor with engine running but was firm with engine off. After a ton of pumping and bleeding brakes I could hear air leaking by master cylinder from the brake booster. I then installed a new brake booster and master cylinder, prior to install I bench bled the master cylinder. After a ton of bleeding still no success the pedal remained the same. Reading on forums I read a similar situation where wheel cylinders were sucking air, I replaced both wheel cylinders and put new brakes on front and rear while I was at it. At this point I have done a ton of bleeding, and see no change. Concerned there may be air in abs module so I cracked each line loose bleeding out a small amount of air from each. Unfortunately the pedal remained the same. I then used my bidirectional scan tool and activated the abs and went through the bleed procedure again doing this all multiple times. And lastly I have also adjusted the brake booster out hoping to fix the issue, but it didn't seem to change much even running it out a lot. After this I purchase this I purchased the brake booster tool to make sure it was adjust properly and had to turn it back in a fair amount. I have no idea what the issue could be and have also bled the brakes with a vacuum pump bleeder (mightyvac). The brake system is completely full of new fluid and I have no idea what else to try. No lights on the dash, it will stop the truck kind of aggressively but the pedal is almost to the floor. Can anyone please help I have no idea what else to try. Sorry for writing a book but I wanted to be thorough.
