Was driving down the Interstate and my transmission gave out. Big time. Like NASCAR, complete with a big white smoke cloud. Complete failure. None of the shift positions worked, except park. No engagement with the engine at all. The only tow person available to tow to the dealer (10 miles away) was a tow truck that lifted from the rear with the front wheels on the ground. He said "since the transmission is gone" the tow would not hurt anything else. I'm not so sure. I'm now concerned about the transfer case and suspension. What do you experts think?
Thanks so much. Not in 4x when driving. Just going down the freeway at 75mph. I'm told this is a known issue with the 10 speed. So glad I purchased the ESP extended warranty. Only 72k miles, but the regular warranty ran out at 60k.
Got a call from the dealer today. I made history.
The dealer says this is the first transmission they have ever seen that actually "split in half" and disintegrated internally.
Still going to requite more time to get the transmission and install it. Now I'm paying $50.00 per day for the rental and without my work truck.
