What does THICK stator mean in context of a 3.0L V6 Camshaft synchronizer?

We are possibly replacing the camshaft sensor and synchronizer on 98 Ranger XL with 5 speed manual. Getting code P0340 which is the Camshaft Position sensor.
Yes, I know the sensor is mounted to the top of the synchronizer.

As the thread title asks, what does THICK stator mean and is it a problem to be used in our 98 3.0L V6? I am possibly puchasing from O'reilly Aut but their website acting weird right now so giving a link to RockAuto instead for same part.

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,1998,ranger,3.0l+v6,1304514,ignition,camshaft +synchronizer,10722

Go to WAI GLOBAL CAMS2600 Includes Alignment Tool. Next line below this states "W/ thick Stator".

In addition to code P0340, we are experiencing engine cutting out when RPMs up around 2500ish. Engine runs fine when putting around the neighborhood at 20-25 mph.

We have put engine in #1 TDC and about to pull the existing camshaft synchronizer out to re-orient properly.

Background: I didn't know the part about being at TDC. We swapped in a reman Jasper 3.0 V6 and i moved the synchronizer over from bad engine will-nilly without doing my homework.

O'Reilly Auto has this part and the Dorman 689117 too.

The guy at the store is willing to "sort of" price match Rockauto down to the point of their cost but no lower. He says give me the RockAuto price including Shipping.
Thanks

I didn't use the WAI brand cam synchronizer since no one chimed in here. I seem to have trouble not getting anyone to reply to my questions. Any light to be shed here would be appreciated.
We used the Dorman brand synchronizer and all worked out fine. Our angle toward the firewall was more like about 25° versus Haynes manual range of 45 to 33° counter clock wise from straight at firewall. Our synchronizer/cam sensor combo came with a pointing tool and this was helpful. Putting engine at TDC was easy once we removed the fan blade and radiator shroud (recommended).

Dont know much about engine internals. But glad it worked out for you. I have a 2000 XLT with the 3.0 flex fuel. It runs fine. I look at the forums and youtube when fixing things. Good luck.
