92 3.0L ignition timing retards 20degrees just off idle

Hello All. I'm new here. I have a 92' 3.0L (distributor type ignition).A4LD transmission. Stock airbox housing, but mildly opened up. Flow master 50 series muffler on small stock pipe diameters. Issue I've had is during cold and lower engine temps, I found the ignition timing will retard 20+ degrees as I apply throttle. It will stall the engine unless I blip the gas pedal. Timing was set to 10-12 degrees while in lock-out mode. Has a fresh timing chain and gears. Idles smooth, and takes throttle normally when the engine and ambient temps are approximately 85f. Has fresh motorcraft iacv, iat, coolant temp sensors. Quite awhile ago I installed some 96 crown vic fuel injectors, pretty sure they are 21lb.hr., vs the rangers 17's(?). Wondered if anyone else has had similar experience. Regards.
