Broke the ignition manual release lever on 2010
Broke the ignition manual release lever on 2010
For me to turn my truck fully off, and remove the key, I need to press a small release lever by the ignition.
I can do this with my right index finger, and can remove the key in one motion.
I guess I must have broken the lever off.
To get the key out, I removed the ignition lock cylinder. That was not too difficult.
But now, I guess, I have to replace the ignition lock cylinder. That would be easy and inexpensive, except the truck uses a chipped key (I hate those things).
Because of the chipped key, I am afraid I might have to hire some special locksmith who can reprogram things, or something.
Is there any to get past this? I don't care about using an unchipped key, or if I have to rig something.
Maybe there is some way to bypass the need for that manual release lever? It is not useful for anything.
