Ignition cylinder release button

The black button in the steering column that you push to return the ignition cylinder back to remove the key is broken off, and was wondering what the parts is called, and if they are available in the aftermarket?

It is called ignition key release lever or button

Pictures of it here: https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ssue-lock2.jpg

You can remove it, take Torx head screw out, and spring, and key can be removed when ignition is turned off, no more button

Usually only found on manual trans vehicles, column shift Automatics have the same thing but putting trans in Park activates Release for key

I would imagine that I won't be able to get access to it, with just removing the lower plastic 1/2. with the three screws?

Once the bottom 1/2 is off, top 1/2 can just be pulled up and off
The 3 screws clamp them together

If not post the YEAR of your Ranger

Yes top half should just pull up and off after bottom half is removed

If its a tilt wheel tilt it down all the way after removing bottom half, this makes getting top half off easier
