Not sure how to fix an intentionally ruined exhaust.
Also not sure how else to describe the exhaust on this 96 ford ranger. The exhaust has been cut in 3 places. Directly behind the catalytic converter, and both forward sensors as close to the exhaust manifold that a sawzaw blade could get. The 2 cuts by the sensors are at an angle and because it's so close to the sensors the pipes are not round. So the whole y pipe and catalytic converter is free but I can't pull it out without cutting it up more. Since I can't get it out I was going to put it back together with band clamps but the pipes are just not round where they are cut by the sensors. I don't want to try the bolts holding it on the exhaust manifold, what I want to do is cut the sensors out to where the pipes are round like they are supposed to be so I can use a band clamp and flex pipe to do away with the crazy bends and weird shapes that can't be repaired or even taken out of the truck without cutting up into small pieces. I could use half the length of pipe if I don't wrap it around everything on the way to the muffler and leave me with the option of replacing it later if I ever have to. I'm just not sure what to do with the catalytic converter, how the hell do these get stolen? It literally can't come out without cutting it into several small pieces, the thing it is trapped behind is the big cross brace riveted to the inside of the frame so the bed has something to bolt onto. Obviously I have no experience with exhaust work. Every problem I see with this exhaust only exists because of the shape and path of the pipe. I see no reason at all to do anything other than a strait round pipe from the manifold to muffler. I can only assume this was created like apple phones where everything is designed to be as difficult as possible to be repaired so it has to be replaced instead. And honestly for the age and miles on the ford ranger it's probably cheaper to get another than a whole new exhaust for it. I guess I don't really have any questions just complaining about the horrible way exhaust work is done.
