replace 3rd gear
replace 3rd gear
i was looking at a s10 blazer and it was in great condition. he wanted $400 for it with everything in it. 4x4, 4.3, luxury edition......great condition inside and out
he said the only problems were 3rd gear was broken and the dip stick rotted out
would these be to major to fix(as in would it be better to get a blazer fully working for $1000, or get this and fix it)
sorry......i asked this on a s-10 forum and they treated me like crap and didnt help
i love my ranger but my dad had a blazer he was saving for me until it crashed and totaled. i love the s10 blazer and always wanted one.
i still love my ranger

You didn't say if it was an automatic or manual transmission. If it's an automatic transmission you won't be able to do it yourself. You'll need to get a junkyard transmission or something as the best route there. The dipstick tube isn't major at all as long as it's not rotted and stuck in the block then you'll have to pull the oil pan off and retrieve the pieces.
As an auto mechanic I would highly advise you to check and see if the intake manifold is leaking coolant. I get them in cycles of having the lower manifold leaks coolant. Really check over the truck before you buy. That really goes for any truck though.

maybe for the gear itself not for the whole trans. Any trans your looking about 700-1500 minus the core. TE just qouted me 795 for a world class t-5 with sending mine in for a core.
