Pop up Tonneau cover

I think I might be on to something, if someone hasnt done it already (if so please tell me more) but what about a pop up fiberglass tonneau cover. Im thinking of one that lays flat normally, but has solid sides that can be easily added for when you want a cap.

Ok Rip away....

You're talking about something that would extend vertically and "transform" into a cap? That sounds like it could be a good product, but it would probably take up a lot of bed space to install something like that. Also, there is already a hinged style like this:

If you mean like..a tonneau that pops into a cap. Sounds likea neat idea, seems like it'd turn ugly.

Now think of cloth, that could work..

Sounds cool to me. What I have always wanted was a cloth (think tent material) that was compressed by the back window (like a convertible) and could slide out to the tailgate to be a full size camper tent.

Hmmm I had a Tekstyle on my last Ranger. It was nice, but I hated the vinyl in the winter. With the flip up I think I would be allright. I think cloth side skirts would be a good idea.

My main plan here is to be able to throw the dogs in back if we ever get to go on a trip with the truck. With 2 dogs and 2 kids I would have to debate who rides in the bed and who rides in the cab

I think that is a good idea...like it'd turn from a tounue cover into a topper right? I donno how well you could make the joints look but who cares...they'd be almost on top out of sight

The show Trucks did that although no sides. It was done with linear actuators to raise it up. It's on a long term list for me. Other stuff to do first.

I have a sour taste in my mouth with Tonneau cover since i had one on my 99 Ranger sure it looked nice but you could not put nothing in back, then i traded my 99 in and sold the tonneau cover to my uncle for 250 dollars, then went and got my 06 Ranger and put a topper on it and it works great for me.

I have seen a cloth(canvas prolly) soft top that would be nice to have. I cant remeber the price but it was more than I will ever spend. it even had clear plastic windows.

I have been looking into a softtopper.com one. I like the idea of having a cap I can have on one minute, and off the next, and that's why I liek th soft tops. I had looked into getting a Can-Back, but some websites say that their now out of bussiness.
