What is the bulb # that goes in the stock dome light in a 2000 Regular cab ranger? (there are 2) Mine were missing when I got the truck, and I dont have a owners manual either.

Oh I went through hell getting my old XLT domelight off.. i broke it, and replaced it with a stang dome light

 

What does your dome light look like with the cover on? My dome light has only one bulb.

 

It was off when I bought it..........I found it in the glove box.........I think it broke off..

 

Go check the classifieds and get an Ex dome light. That thing is in bad shape.

 

That's an XLT domelight just without the dome lol... has the two maplights and the center light.

 

ok, i got bulbs for it, and put them in, and one of them stays on when the door is closed. When you open the door, the other one comes on like its suppost to. With the door shut, I can rotate the dial and the one bulb I have in it will come on like its suppost to, but the other one would just stay on when you put the bulb in, so i took it back out. So I only have one in right now...........what is wrong with it?

 

Check your dial beside the headlight switch.....make sure it's not turned all the way up. Doing so will make the dome light come on. If you give it a turn down past a click....I bet the light will go out.

Give that a try and let us know what's up.

 

when i do that though, one is off, then when i turn the dial on, it comes on, but the other one stays on no matter what.

 

The black slider should be a switch, it turns on the map light. Slide it to the middle. With all that rust on the contacts I would replace it.

like i said, one will stay on no matter what you do, while the other one will come on either when you rotate the dial on the dash to make it come on, or open the door. I might just get a new one...........you think autozone would have em?

 

I didn't realize that little black thing on it was a switch. I went back out there, put the other bulb back in, and moved the switch to the middle, and now both are off.........that stuff on the switch that looks like rust is actually a little bit of gummy stuff. Works fine now, just got to fix the cover back on, and it will be good to go. Thanks for the help ya'll.
