What is the Big Deal???

What is the big deal with Explorer and Mustang Dome lights? I have a 98 and my dome light is fine. It has a regular dome and 2 spots/map lights. Whats the difference? Am I missing something?

Some Rangers have just one cheap light. My 04 Level II had the map lights and all, but a Buddy of mine bought the same truck about two months later and just had a cheap on off light.

Ohhh ok.....I was wondering why people were wanting to change. Mine works just fine. I do wish I had a seperate "Cargo Light" switch, rather than it being hooked into the Interior Dome light.

Yep. My '03 had that stupid thing. I think it was the same done light I had in min '91 and my '84 as well. Replaced it with an XLT model and it is much nicer!

It was a mid 04 change, My old truck (Grant's) was built in November 03 as an 04 and it had map lights, my Buddy Powells 04 was built in april of 04 as an 04 and it's got the flat ghey light. Both are level II's the only difference is color and tranny.

I swapped the POS in my 01 with this Mustang dome light. I like the map lights, a nice feature that Ford has seemed to drop in a few vehicles.
