You gotta spray a little WD-40 on them to get them to slide out. Plus use a flat screwdriver to push down on them as you pull real hard on the box.

If you hit those rubber grommets with WD-40 or the like they will just slide right out. Without lubricant it is a tug o war with at least one of the plastic pieces breaking almost everytime.

that's not an airbox mod then - just sliencer removal
air box mod is when you cut additional intake vents in the stock box to free up even more breathing

with this air box mod, all you remove (no cutting required!)is the tube and contraption behind the passanger headlamp. all this mod does is open up the box for more airflow.

I get the concept of it, like I'm not a complete retard when it comes to vehicles, but I want the best bang for the buck. When it comes to air intakes, what takes the cake? Is the Airraid intake system worth it for the increased amount of air it takes in, or would a drop in filter, and remove the airbox silencer I believe it's called, which costs I'm guessing a few bucks less, give not the same, but similar results?

Example:

Airraid cost $200 increase of 6 rear wheel horsepower - As stated in an ebay auction
K&N drop in cost $50 increase of ? horsepower

If the drop in adds 1.5 hp, then they both match up, and it all depends on what you want. But if the K&N were to free up an extra, for the sake of conversation, we'll say 4 ponies, then the Airraid wouldn't be worth it. On the other hand, if the drop-in gave very little or no extra hp, that wouldn't be worth it.

Anybody?

My MAC pulls tons of underhood hot air. I'm thinking of going back to stock to try and solve this and just using a Fram Airhog filter.
