Well IMO, they are putting the 3.73 in there for gas mileage, you will however notice a difference in performance by upgrading to the 4.10. There are a few websites where you can calculate the difference in engine RPM's etc. for your various gear ratios and tire sizes. That would help you determine. I'm guessing you'd see about at most 100-200 rpm difference at various speeds. To me, the biggest factor would be the gas mileage, if you want maximum, then stay put, if you're doing A LOT of highway cruising etc. If you're a city slicker and don't care so much about MPG make the upgrade.

Here is a pretty detailed calculator website.

3.73 to 4:10 depending on your application, you won't notice much if any. If you are 2wd i would reccomend a 4.30,

for the 8.8 the only gear options is either a 4.10 or a 4.56.........and he would notice a difference from a 3.73 to a 4.10...........

i would say if you are doing more city driving than highway driving, then yes it would be worth it....BUT if you are doing more highway driving than city, then no it wouldn't be worth it..

he does not have an 8.8, he has the 2.3 2wd with the 7.5 rear.

But, I have an 07 with the 8.8 (obviously) with 3.73's stock, so I'm confused as to what you're saying with the only gear options for the 8.8 being a 4.10 and 4.56

Increasing the gear ratio, meaning a higher number as an example, 4.10 and 4.56 are the only two that are made by any manufacturere currently. You can go lower, I believe a 3.55 and a 3.27 or so MIGHT be available, I know my '96 Bronco had 3.55's.

I know that a member on rps that lives near me has 4.30s. Where he got them from...I have no idea.

I just went from 3.73s to 4.10s...its a huge change...huge. But I'm also double lifted on 33s. I think that makes a huge difference too.
