So, I am sitting reading all these post about Body lifts. I was orginally going with a 3in. BL, but after doing some searching and reading I may just be going down to a 1in. BL. I do like my rig to sit high, but not too high to the point where you see to much gap between the body and the suspension. If anyone has any pics of a 1,2 or 3 inch rigs so I can kinda compare and see what I really want. I havent really ruled out the 3in., but alot of people say that it just looks dumb.

Personally, 3" isn't that big when compared to the truck. A lot of Chevy's from the factory have a gap between the bed and the frame so it doesn't bother me at all. I got a 3" PA BL along with the suspension lift goodies, but just to show you the gap (which you really cant see) that a body lift gives this is what gap it would give you.

 

my 1" BL there basicaly is no gap under the bed so it looks good . but no one is going to notice its lifted only 1" its totaly small gain . the benefit here is now you can stuff 33" tires . i also like that the body is a little higher to help from smashing in the rocker panels.

for myself I'm going to end up with a superlift or maybe rcd if somehow i become rich . adding 1" to either of those lifts i'll be at a reasonable rideheight . 3" BL ontop of 4 or 5 inches of suspension lift is just too high for me .

I'm doing my 1" as we speak. I paid like $25 for the blocks, and $37 for the bolts, and about $4 for washers. I'll post mine later........but here's dave's ranger......

I would go with the 3". Sure seems like a lot of work for just 1". Thats just my opinion though.

 

^^^^ ahaha yep gotta agree i was going to do a 1'' but after buying the 3 and putting it on its diffently not worth the work for just one inch...

 

the reasoning for the 1". I am a big hater against body lifts. Up until I got the ranger, all my other trucks were cheap to suspension lift. toyota w/ sas, chevy w/ sas, international w/ sas. Body was absolutely not an option.

I want 32's until I do my SAS on the ranger. I've got 32s. One inch, will be sufficient to more so clear the 32s from hitting the inner fender. Maybe someday, I will pull out the 1" and install the 3, but for $200 or more, itj ust wasn't worth what I wanted it to to do.

 

I do think that sometimes,you can barely notice it and its soooooo much work.definently take it into consideration. for myself the 3" bl doesn't work cuz i tow with the bumper , price , ease of installation. i think 3" looks silly but really most people don't even know what a body lift is and will think your truck looks great . now i can run 33's till the SL and i wanna run 33's with my final setup cuz i can't afford to re-gear

big red I see your t bars are cranked 2" so like you could have 5 total inches or 3 total inches of lift , Or you could crank the t bars to 1" and improve your ride dramaticaly do a 3 inch BL = 4" total lift but way better ride .return t-bar to stock and have 3" with factory ride quality. I hear its also possible to cut the blocks that come in the PA kit to make a 2 inch body lift. what combo of suspension and body gives you what you want ?

Decide your total ride height you want the truck when its fully built with any future suspension lift etc. there are alot of factors like price , look, performance, ride quality,do you offroad alot, rollover risk etc. just look ahead cuz i didn't look ahead with tires and now i wish i would have got 33's instead of 32's it would of been some mild rubbing for a while but now i'm stuck with the 32's.

 

I agree it is alot of work to only get 1". I believe its more worth your while to go with a 3" and I think you will really appreciate how it looks.

 

also long with the 3inch body lift you just have to buy gap guards and the little problem of seeing threw the body and the frame is solved... i prefer the 3inch, i am big agenst body lifts also but if you do it right you dont even know that it has a body lift on it.. and you are able to clear a bigger tire i the wheel well....IMO

 

personally i helped install a 1" its not even worth the time i still think hardly even notice able not really that much clearness no thank you either do it all or not at all IMO

 

Well hell, might as well do a 6" body lift then and say to hell with a suspension lift in that case. lol

I gotta take off the bed and lift the cab to por the frame. I'm gonna do the 1" body lift and fab some brackets for the shifters. I might as well since I'm going through all that trouble.

i feel the 1" bodylift is well worth it. it allow me to run a 33" tire with minimal tire rubbing and I believe if I wasn't running swampers at the time I would of had no rubbing at all.

 

Damn it, I want a 1" body lift now,, I always hated the huge gap and thought it was a ***** lift if you didnt atleast have some form of suspension lift aswell,, I just want the 1" so Im taller then a fully cranked 4x4 with same size tires without making it hard as hell to for my mom to get into the truck,, also the 1" would stop the 31"s rubbing on the front valance when I turn and hit a speed bump and stop the horrible sound it makes,,

So all you would need would be:
12 1" Blocks off ebay and
This will be a great summer project,,

 

Well, I think im going to man up and get the 3in body lift.

I am already a 4x4 and with the t-bars cranked I sit a little higher than most rangers. I just want to be up there with the F-150 and all those boys. My only other option is a superlift but thats $1300, so for now, il go with the body lift.

i updated my origianl post as well. those are correct.

as far as worth the effort, its simple. i can do a 1" BL on my truck in 2hrs. alone. you dont hafta extend anything, or fight any new brackets. made it possible to run my 33's with ZERO rub.

 

yeah the time could be really fast if no bolts are frozen like i had problems with . and air tools too. 1 more hour to mod the bumper 20 min to grind the fan shroud .....a 3" will take an additional 4-6 hours to connect all the extensions bumpers etc .

 

3 inch looks very very nice with some gap guards......

 

Hey Jonathan are you going to install the BL yourself?

 

Well, once I got it I was going to throw a thread up to see if any socal boys want to meet up and do the install. If not, then it looks like 4 wheel parts in Westlake is going to be getting my $600 dollars. I want to avoid that at all cost...but I have no experience with BLs. Did you have anything in mind?
