Gas Tank overfill question
Gas Tank overfill question
Whenever I fill my 93 Ranger XLT, I always have to tell the guys filling the truck (I live in Oregon, so dont pump my own gas), to NOT fill to a certain dollar amount when filling up truck.
When pump shuts off, its full. It overflows under the truck every time.
Not sure if thats a leak somewhere, or normal for Fords to slightly overflow like that when filling.

I top off my gas all the time and I've never had it leak out or overflow except out of the gas hole where the nozzel goes into but that is only when I'm not paying attention, maybe a few times a year. I don't think it's supposed to leak out from any other places that I know of.

Yeah, I agree with the "go to another station" posts.
I filled up at a run down McEwan station once and it over flowed.....the pumps didn't click, so needless to say, I never went there again.
Stick to the brand name stations that look in good shape.

It happens at every station I go to.
I tell them to fill it up, but to NOT round it off. When the pump clicks, the tank is full. If they try to short fill it to reach 50 cents, or a dollar, it overflows under the truck.

yea its your filler neck. its rotten where it conects to the tank. i just replaced mine on my 94. it had a huge crack like 3/16" so when i was getting full tank of gas just before it clicked off the first time it was all ready spilling on the ground.

Mine didn't crack, rather some retards decided to steal some gas, not realizing that a cop was watching them. lol
