Squires Turbo 4.0 (250-313 rwhp)

I did some searches and didnt see anything revelant. It might be a repost though. Anyways, they make 2 different turbos for the 4.0 and they make some awesome rwhp.

heres the link

http://www.ststurbo.com/mustang_v6

most of their set up likes this are right around $5000...which is about right and not too shabby

I've done it all. Blower, nitrous, & turbos. Turbo is the way to go for a daily driver IMO. You get stock milage, don't have to worry about nitrous problems, and the power is awsome. Only down side is that it's very expensive. Can easily cost you more than replacing the motor.

Will this system even fit on a Ranger? I know the Procharger doesn't fit, and I am not about to spend 5g on this to see it not fit good at all.

I'm not 100% sure that kit would work on a Ranger but STS does make a universal kit that will work on mostly anything.

Thats rear wheel power. I don't think thats bad at all. I use my truck for what trucks are made for, so that kind of safe usable power would work well for me, too bad I am broke...lol

thats only like 380 at the crank. stock is 205, sure its a decent jump but for 5 grand? thats 13.4ish per hp...not very cost effective.

^^^LOL... Only problem is, you have to be knowledgeable enough to do that kind of swap, and sadly I am not... :)

Also worth noting.. power comes at a price. Pushing a *stock 4.0L* to nearly double it's stock power output is going to take a toll. If it lives.. it's life will not be too long. A built 4.0L motor or a V8 can make the same power and do it for years.

Gotta pay to play.

If you really want to make cheap power and have it last? ***Ramp up** nitrous to more than a 50shot.

heh, for $5000 u can build a sweet 331 stroker and all the parts to swap it in, have more torque and it'll last a long...long time.

turbos are the neato factor. 5.0 is the smart factor.

Having 2 less cylinders is like going to a stag party without your pair of ' boys ', your driving an impotent Eunuch.

Theres NO replacement for displacement, I wasted over 5 grand remembering such.

C'mon now D!

The stock bottom ends can take atleast 350 whp. Our Cologne engines have hypereutectic pistons (meh) but we do have forged rods. I used to have a 4.0 Mustang, the ideal turbo for the 4.0 is the Powerhouse turbo.

http://www.powerhouse411.com/

It's made up 450 whp on 4.0 Mustangs, with stock motors.

No The Rangers got the Mazda M50D-R1. You would have to get adapters to fit the T5.

thats a rear mounted turbo setup..

IMO, to get it working and tuned for a 4.0 is a waste of time.

now if you wanted to do a motor swap with turbo, id look into a mustang/turbocoupe 2.3, or just a built v8. Its not worth it for a 4.0

Yes, it's a PITA with the rear-setup, but nonetheless it has still given 4.0's in Mustangs 450whp. A guy on the Mustang Forums runs about 400hp on his, has 50k miles, with no problems.
