back pressure help me plz

I want to run dual exhaust on my truck but i dont want to run it all the way out the back of the truck. what i want to do is run 2.25" pipe into punched cats and then into glass pack that are mounted backwards. then put turn downs on it about a foot and a half b4 the axle. my ? is with that set up remember this is true duals will i have enough back pressure? or if i run then all the way out the back or have a turn to the sides b4 the rear tires with that be better?

Thanks

I wouldn't run no cats to a glasspack, IMO it will sound terrible.

Get a set of high-flow cats, a si-do or si-so MUFFLER (not a glasspack), then put dumps on it.

You NEED a certain amount of back pressure to have use-able low-end torque for the "low" RPM range. If you remove a substantial amount of back pressure from your exhaust it will feel like you have to get the RPM range MUCH higher to accelerate at the same rate as you did before.

I agree a free-flowing exhaust will help you, but there is a limit where you can go too free-flowing also.

On a small V6 with a short stroke... I'd run a 2" pipe vs something larger. At lower rpms your simply not moving much air (exhaust velocity) and scavaging just isn't taking place. You will loose some low end TQ. But if your happy with the change.. who cares.

Reducing the back pressure will raise the TQ curve. So.. as long as you like the power and noise.. it's your truck. Do what you want to.

Understandable, but just be aware that you aren't running the best size for your motor, so your performance will suffer (as compared to the performance of 2" pipe)
