Looking for honest opinons...
I'm looking at higher mileage 98-up rangers, preferably in the 5k range.... I have seen a few @ about 100k miles....
Sooooooo, What should I look for specifically on them? Any problem areas that I should know of?

I would have to say the biggest worry I have seen or most common problem with Rangers.. Transmissions. If its an automatic, look for leaks on it. If its a stick, check the master cylinders fluid levels as well as the clutch to have a full pedal * slave cylinders fail all the time with them without any warnings ).
Check for leaks around the oil pan too. I can vouch for checking the trans. I have had over $5,100 in trans work(under warranty) done between 36k and 65k miles. Over hauled at least 3x and bunch of parts replaced.
