driving in 4 will dramatically decrease in mileage. But ehy are you consirned about mileage in 4 wheel??? The only time you should be in 4hi is when you actually NEED 4hi. And when you need it....why do you care if your truck is getting 14mpg? 13mpg? Honestly don't know the numbers....as i don't care. And neither should you.

ways to improve: intake, exhaust, tuner, a "light right foot", tonneau/canopy, watching your weight, your vehicle weight(keeping inside pretty much empty). Maybe swapping down to a 3.73 gear ratio.

There mores ways but that's what came to mind.

sometimes not like an everyday thing, i live in upstate new york we get a decent amount of snow here n there, my main concern is where i work its out in the country and i have to travel alot of open feilds, the drifts are horrible so mainly during that driving... i really like these rangers, im a ford guy and i want somthing thats good in the snow i just dont want to have to get a second job for gas yah know? currently i have an audi a4 quattro which is amazing in the snow and i get about 19 mpgs in the snow and cold, but i wanna trade that in for somthing a little cheaper plus its manual and i hate driving it everyday... i shoulda bought and auto i know but i didnt

it really depend on how much you put it in 4wd bc then you will be turning two shafts i don't think there would be a big difference until you put it in 4wd

its kinda called money and gas is pushin 4 bucs a gallon, now maybe you have more money then me which is fine but with a mortgage payment insurances cell phones food etc... spendin an extra 200 a month on gas besides what i already pay is just a little bit of a concern to me thats why i was asking... dont really know what the need of rude responses are but hey some people are just like that i guess

yes i have the 4.0L 4x4 and i hardley ever put it in 4wd unless i get stuck. on the highway i average around 15 MPG and in the city im going to say around 12 MPG but i also have a 3 inch body lift and 33 inch tires which plays a role in that. it really all depends on your right foot and how you use the truck.

i have the stock 4.0 and usually get 17-18 with usual driving (mostly city, some highway). I always accelerate slowww. Whenever i put it in 4wd for an extened period of time my milage for that tank seems to automatically drop to atleast 16
