Someone Make Sas Kit!
Someone Make Sas Kit!
damn near every other company makes a SAS kit for trucks.
Why dosnt the ranger freaking make a SAS "kit" like say...toyota!..
you think they would with the most popular truck in the usa.

those aren't really kits are they?
i mean sure they sell all the parts and crap but spring hangers and coil buckets dont come stock on a Yoda Either. you still need to weld stuff on those, newer ones you gotta get a steering box and put that on too i think.. none are like "ok bolt leaf springs here" i dont think
this way its more personalized too

i believe it was petersons.. but someone built up a gen 3 and claimed to have gotten a kit from somwhere.. when i get back home i'll have to try and dig it up... but it was a coil-over setup and they even said it was "pricey" which means a lot coming from people who have a build up in every issue..
but it would be nice to have a kit that had all the premade mounts, springs, steering, and maybe an axle all you would have to do is cut every thing off and weld the mounts on mount every thing up
I am going to get a parts list from zach and I will buy all the pieces, mark it up 100% then sell them to you. Thats the kits they sell
Its alot cheaper to just do the reasearch find a good welder and go at it

Most likely its because the Ranger uses a rack and pinion steering setup, whereas most other trucks that a SAS kit is made for do not, they use a regular steering box with a pitman arm. They DO make a SAS kit for the older rangers that still had a pitman arm and normal steering box.
The kit that Peterson used was for a Jeep Wrangler and its a coil over kit. They said for the most part that it fit without any modifications. So that along with a D30 from a wrangler and you'd have the same kit they used.

There's no way to make a kit for an IFS Ranger that won't require cutting, drilling and welding to make it work. There's not shortcuts for this one. By comparison, TTB to SAS is much easier.
steering was one of my worst enemies... all issues fixed now just need to beef up the drag link/tie rod and go high steer. see my latest thread.
RazorsEdge is right on with the steering... Steering is a big safety risk... no company will say oh drill soem holes and mount a toyota steering box on... then use these parts for the intermediate shaft.

I'll throw my advice in here too: the steering would be a liability NIGHTMARE for anyone wanting to make a SAS kit for the ranger. It'd be nice, but I'd be damned if it happened for any late-model rangers.
