Stock 4x4 Height

So I was lookin' at my truck the other day and I swear it's lower than my '99. They are both stock and the '99 was a step-side so i thought maybe it was just an illusion. I have a pic of mine nose to nose with an '01 and mine looks slightly shorter... does anyone know if this is something Ford did or just my imagination?

It could be a different trim. For example, the edge sits 2" higher than a xlt. That may be the case or your eyes are just playing tricks on you.

I thought 4x4's and Edges sit at the same height?

4x4 front end sits higher than the edge

You can look at a edge and 4x4 straight on and tell which is which

the edge 4x4 and edge 2wd are the exact same height as other ranger 4x4's (from 2001+) this includes the sport, which seceeded the edge.

^^that's what i thought.

But...

The fronts should be the same(different Tbars/differently cranked)...could be an illusion w/ tire combos, difference valences, flares, and the like. The rear might be lower...i think Ford put shorter blocks on the back of 08's?

if your saying the 08 is lower, i think they are.

go and look at the lift block in the rear, i think they are only 1.5" vs 2.5" or something.

Correct for some reason on the 08 year modle they dropped them 1 whole inch saying it was a more tuned suspension geometry ( handles better) .
So you eyes arnt deceving you its sitting lower .

that could also be a weak attempt at getting a better mpg rating.

Also, what size tires are on both trucks? That would make a HUGE difference.

Weight will do it too. Or at least add to the overall picture.

The 08's are lower. By an inch to an inch and a quarter.
Best you can do is crank your Tbars (this will only get you 1 1/4" extra on the 08's fully cranked) and order up some 2.5" blocks to replace your current 1.5" blocks.

Alot of people are going to find this out the hard way when they go to run bigger tires that have often fit the older models with no rubbing.

They are using the smaller lift block to help reduce axle wrap. At least thats my guess.

If your going to lift it do a chevy spring swap.

Keep in mind springs wear over time and sag.
