Ranger with 4bt Cummins in Diesel Power mag
Ranger with 4bt Cummins in Diesel Power mag
Hey guys. There is a Ranger on youtube with a 4bt turboed cummins in it, Diesel Power mag now has an article on it in the August 2008 issue. Thought some of you would like to see it.
I have the article on the Blue one at home, may have to swing by a news stand and pick up the new issue with the info. Soon as that 4.0L in mine blows up, I'm going right out and buying a 4BT and running it in the Ranger. I know people who know people who sell them.
haha, sticking a diesel cummins into a ranger is quite a step beyond a simple how-to sadly

Its a Cummin 4bt and has these FUGLY stacks sticking out of the bed and over teh cab. Its Yellow with a graphic paint scheme wrapping the front bumper.
It has a whole 160HP and 300lb/ft... Ohhh.. soooo scary!
Search on youtube for ' stacked ranger ' and his vids will come up. Its on the tailgate of the truck.

you have fun with that
its called White Rhino's build thread on pirate.. atleast i hope because i need to figure out what bolts up to what and what needs to be tweaked
that much power an a little 28 spline 8.8?
even a 31 spline i wouldnt trust.. maybe if your building a show truck for people to laugh at the tiny axle but if your spending that kinda money and time.. get a 14bolt atleast if your going to use it.

HOw many and how much are you willing to spend. I know people who work with direct Cummins dealers.
Cheapest rebuilt one was $3000
I'm planning mine out before I do it. I'm not disclosing anything untill I do it LOL!!!

I can get them around that price but not rebuilt. I have read some about it but not much. the 4bt takes nothing but 12v to run.
I think the longest wait would be getting the speedo and driveshafts changed. lol it really does not seem to be that difficult.
Not really. The cummins 4bts were in bread and delivery trucks. It's not all that hard. It would be the same thing as swapping in a 12V engine. (Ignition wire and ground wire). 14 Bolt? Pfft. Ford 9" would do just fine. But i'd rather have Zach's truck with a 4bt cummins since it's axles are built already.
All you have to do for more power in them is the exact same as a 12v Cummins except buy 2 less of everything.
Oh and there is a really mean bronco with a 4bt in it in DP Mag about a year ago that was over 450hp. Mean mean ride.
I wish i would have done that to my ranger. Just no stacks unless they were 5" mitres.

i bet i could break the D44, unless he has some upgraded shafts, i've seen jeeps with the 4.0 break D44s on 36s
Depends on what you are using your truck for.
This Bronco has 400hp and uses a front D44 and rear Ford 9"
