i have noticed more and more that there is a high pitch noise coming from either the alternator pulley or tensioner...its coming from that area and i dont think its my alternator going bad so its one of the two pulleys i dont know which one i still have a warrenty so should i take it in to get it checked??

 

have your tensioner checked. And do a search on the forum. Many have been replaced due to what assumingly sounds the same for you.

 

same thing happened on my '99 3.0L
i just got the tensioner replaced and no more squeaky

 

Idler pulley on mine.

 

mine is idler too.. but i refuse to fix it.. i am lazy.

 

Yes. But first take off the belt and check it for yourself. Get a good feel for how each rotating component feels. Listen to the squeeks and such. Observe how much for/aft and side to side play it has. Then after they fix it, repeat.

Anytime a guy can use a situation like this to build experience is a good thing.
