Put my air intake in this weekend!!

Hey guys me and a buddy of mine put in a intake into my truck this weekend! its completely home made! buy my god does it ever work! the truck has more low end torque and better acceleration! she sounds meaner too!

any opinions on exhaust ?? gotta glasspack on there right sounds good but im lookin for sumthing a little bit louder!?? anyone got any ideas??

what is keepin that filter from floppin around? you should build some sort of wall to make it a cold air intake again. looks good though.

It took my quite some time to grow to like. But now I like the magnaflow. It's got low end / idle rumble. And just doesn't get too loud at road speeds.

When that metal tube heats up, your going to have a HAI, instead of a CAI!!!

That for sure will give you less efficiency and power than the OEM setup!

straight pipe it like my truck run it all the way out the back and it doesn't drone or anything on the highway

took the truck for an hour spin! pipe was still ice cold!

Wait till summer time, or take a trip to Florida......

There is a good reason the intake OEM (or K&N) tube isn't metal!!!!

Just another example of how to screw something up......and the funny part, the OEM intake & filter isn't what limits the
amount of air flow into the engine!!!!

So, you basically have a HAI and noise maker!!!!

K&N never made anything for the truck besides a drop in filter, thus why we made this. Granted the stock plastic pipe would do a bit better job at insulating the incoming intake charge, but it also sits flat on top the rad. This aluminum pipe sits higher and gets hit with more air coming through the hood line. You look at the K&N cone filter/adapter kit for the newer style MAF 4.0's, and it just bolts to the stock tube. We couldn't do this, so we made our own pipe. If your that worried about the temp in the summer, this is Manitoba, were lucky if we see 3 months of nice summer and nice temperatures. Last but not least its not that loud, just sounds better which is what the guy wanted.

The OEM intake DOES NOT sit on top of the radiator! I'm not worried about a thing, my truck isn't screwed up!!! You just need to be aware of the mechanical and physical properties involved when you do something like this!

Well, if there are noticeable gains then we obviously did something right. The truck pulls harder and sounds better. If your just gonna sit there and be cranky about it and keep knit picking, then your opinion is not needed.

DangerRanger knows about the rad/shroud deal, something with the parts place ordering the wrong one? I can't remember.

Noticeable gains? Butt dynos don't count. Of course your going to think its faster when you spend all that time making it.

not in the 99 ranger they don't but in 93-97 they do they go right across the top of it so you FAIL

On his year truck the whole upper intake is metal, and he lives in canada I highly doubt hes going to notice that much heat soak with that pipe.

What you are noticing is called the "Placebo Effect"!

More noise doesn't equal more power.......Matter of fact, more noise can be due to air turbulence, which will cause your MAF sensor's reading to screw up!
So, if it throws a CEL, chances are good it's due to lean codes......

Absolutely! This topic comes up about once a week. unfortunately, due to the noise these intakes make, nobody is going to listen. Oh well...
