Oil Pressure Sending Unit Location
Oil Pressure Sending Unit Location
I'm putting in an aftermarket oil pres gauge and needed to know where the sending unit was located on the engine. Also what would be the range for normal operating pressure?

4.0L is on the driver side of the block near the front below the AC compressor. Look for a green/white wire going to the factory OP sending switch.
Roughly 15~60 PSI operating pressure range. I would look for a 0~80 or 0~100 PSI gauge.

I could've tapped into the wrong port. I found an sending unit drivers side front and it had one green wire. When I disconnected the wire the oil pressure on the stock gauge would drop all the way. When I plugged it back in normal again. I figured this was it!
I install my gauge and it spikes to about 40-50 range then after about 10 min of running the engine it dropped back down to 20-25 range.
Now my problem is when I shut the engine off the gauge stays in the same exact place and during my 10 mile drive home I didn't really see any movement. What did I do wrong?

Alright well forget my last reply. I had it installed correctly figured out today after work that the line was kinked and was blocking the pressure from reading. Soon after tried to unkink it and the line split so I had to buy another one. Gauge works perfectly now
i'm assuming there is no way to hook this up and still retain the factory oil pressure gauge? I already have a dead gauge due to the water temp so not really looking for another dead gauge but would like the reading from the aftermarket.
Some have teed the stock and aftermarket sending units to keep both gauges functional and the light off.
has anyone hooked one up without draining the oil? i just changed my oil a 1000 miles ago and just got this gauge and want to hook it up with minimal mess and oil coming out. so wait until i change the oil next or is there not a bunch of oil that will come out?
