slave cylinder/clutch squeaks

hi there,

I know that this is a known issue with the Ranger but I have a 07 Ranger 4x4 and I started having the slave cylinder squeaking issue not long after I bought my Ranger. They replaced it then the noise came back again after 5k of driving. I brought it back and at the time they replaced the clutch saying that there was a new TSB that came out that would resolved this issue. Of course the noise came back, however this time instead of the noise being there all the time, this time the noise just seems to start when i've been driving for like 30min or so. Before the noise was always there even on cold start. I had brought it back to the dealership but they said to check again around May to see if Ford will come out with a new TSB. Does anybody else have this same issue as me and had the same maintenance done to their Ranger? Any resolution?

Thanks

I've never had a squeeky slave cyl.......BUT....i've had a squeeky master cyl. And that needed replacing...

I really suspect it's not the slave...it's the master. I've put in 3 masters on my truck...and none had the symptoms you are describing. What you are describing is the master cyl. Take it back before your warranty is up, and make 'em fix the dang thing. Replace everything clutch related..master, slave, clutch.

what would be the difference between a squeaky master cylinder and a slave cylinder?

does both make a squeaky noise when the clutch is pressed?

The difference is where the squeek is coming from. It still could be faulty slave cyls...but from my experience, i've never had those symptoms you are having. I'm just saying....it's a possibiltiy it's the master, as i had those symptons when mine went.

Where's the squeek coming from? You shouldn't hear the squeek with the engine running and if it's coming from the bellhousing.

When I changed my clutch over a year ago, I got a nice new squeaking slave to go with it. Popped out a rubber gromet on the bell and had a friend press the clutch while I watched and listened and its def the slave. Been living with it on and off for over a year...

yeah I know it's more annoying than anything else.
I can't believe there's no cure for this issue.

Yeah I have the same issue with my '08 sport 4x4. The damn clutch squeeks everytime I press it. The dealer replaced the slave cyl. on mine and it went away for a little bit. It has since returned and now I'm just putting up with it. They said there was nothing else they could do for it, as they were going by the TSB for it which says to replace the slave cyl. Makes me mad though, there should be a 'real' fix for it.

I have a 08 Sport 4x4 as well, Mine started squeaking 3500klms after I bought it New. They put a slave and master in it and stopped it for about 2 weeks. I brought it back in and they put a new clutch, bearing and imput shaft in it. I have 7900klms on it and it still does it about 75% of the time. Drives me nus. I know people with 15year old rangers and theirs don't squeak. What the hell!

I had the same problem with my old slave cylinder. It squeaked every now and then from a dead stop, more often when cold then warm. About a year later it pooped out on me. Got it replaced and hasn't squeaked or failed me yet (crosses fingers and knocks on wood).
