valence def! idk about painting all that chrome though. however if you do want to all you have to do is scuff it up really well with a scuff pad or something , clean well prepsol or anything like that and then spray.

im just afraid it might turn out looking like total crap, especially the wheels. the grille is that plastic with chrome paint on top so would i still need to scuff that as well? the valance is the textured plastic one. would i need to do anything special besides just clean it and spray?

the bumoer will definitly need to be scuffed up! no doubt about it, you want that paint to have every chance to bond. as for the valence, yeah you can jsut clean it well and should be able to get away with just spraying it, or take the time to smooth it (i know some guys have done it looks good) as for wheels, idk about them but shouldnt be to hard. good paint comes from good prep and nice even coats! so as long as you take your time and really think about where it could mess up and you take care of them youll be fine!

Its hard to tell on my blackberry, but I think those are the style rims that the chrome is plastic that comes off. Maybe someone else can clarify, but I would have a look.

You're going to need paint that can bond with plastic.

They are. Crackstein did the same thing to his wheels and it turned out great. The plus side to painting those rims is that if you dont like them you can just pop that chrome cover back on there and you wont see the painted wheel.

If you take your wheel off you should be able to take the chrome off. It is just a nice fitting hubcap.

if u want "murdered out" u need to paint every bit of chrome on the truck black! then take off the badges or paint them flat black (thatd be pretty cool) tint the windows, headlights and tails

I personally think it'll look cheap and crappy. The truck looks just fine how it is. You're just going to mess up perfectly good stuff.

I painted my front grille, Valence, and the whole inside on my Ranger, and I painted the cheap steel wheels on my Jeep and a friends Ram. They all turned out great

And this Jeep looks So Cheap and Crappy you could never tell, The fenders were faded out and that the original color on the hardtop was grey. I know you cant see the wheels but they look very good.

Okay to the OP this is very doable but you will have alot of prep, The grill will take about 3 hours to remove prep/paint, from there it needs to stay inside for at least 3-5 days to harden before you put it back on. Take it off, sand down real well (you have to eat through to plastic) now switch to prrogressively lighter gritt to smooth out rough spots, now clean with Acetone. Fom there throw down 3 light coats of adheasion promoter (I use Bulldog) then lay down two coats primer, 3 coats black, 1 light coat sealer.

Valence use the same steps as above only you dont have to scratch as much but it still needs to be rough.

The wheels need to be scuffed up pretty good once again you need to try and eat through the chrom finish on them, now clean them with soap and water, when there dry use acetone. Tape off tire and open slots on the back. Instead of adheasion promoter use a Self Etching Primer 1 good coat then 2 light coats of regular primer just to make the surface smooth so you dont see sanding marks. Now do 3-5 light coats of black and one light coat of sealer.

Chrome bumper I would use the same as above, but rough them up even more go through the chrome.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask
