Seafoam, now ****ty MPG!
Seafoam, now ****ty MPG!
Ok, so last week i Seafoamed my truck, 1/3 in the break booster line, full can in the gas. After that I changed the pluges to Bosch Platnium +2, changed oil to Mobile 1 Full Syn Truck and SUV and used a Mobile 1 filter.
Before, I was getting about 16.6 mpg average. Now, I'm getting around 14.3 mpg....
What could be the problem? Did I forget to change something? I forgot to add Seafoam the old oil, could that do anything? Any help would be great. Thanks guys.

How's your right foot? Are you enjoying the new "peppiness" from de-carboning the enigine? If so, that would be your problem.
After I seafoamed mine, it felt like it had more "get up and go" to it. Then my mileage went down. I stopped and thought about it, and realized I was enjoying the new "get up and go" a little too much. haha

If you guys looked around, theres a million threads on this and why Bosch plugs suck in our truck. Motorcraft should be the only ones used (yea I know theres about 1% on here that actually use bosch and have had zero negative effects).
Motorcraft or Autolite....they are virtually the same exact plug. Our trucks call for double platinum for NA engines.
I ran Bosch platinums, ran like junk, next day I put in Autolite Double Plats, ran like a drea.

I've got NGK's in mine, and there has been an issue with durability. On one plug I got only like 20,000 km out of it. I thought it was a bad plug so I switched it out. Then it changed and it was the next plug down the line. Both not producing any spark. Both plugs are a nice tan color too, no fouling or anything obvious.
Hmm, wow. Never thought that certian plugs wouldnt work, I never thought to check it out.
I guess I'll be switching them out for some either motorcraft or Autolite plugs asap.
Whats the absolute best? Iridium or Platinum?

Well getting back to the sea foam I put the whole thing in the engine, and haven't had any mpg problems, but I also got a magnum performance module too, had it for a while, but as mentioned before I can tell a difference. oh by the way that madule works great, it is the best $25 I spent. sorry sorta thread jacked
