Painting stock grills
I did a search but couldn't find anything specific to my question.
I'm thinking about painting my stock grill silver.
Has anyone done this or seen it done?
I'm not sure what paint to use or what prep work.
I plan on putting drive lights behind the grill, so I don't know how that will change my paint choice.
Any other color suggestions will be appreciated.

BLACK! I painted mine a few months ago...here is my thread on it: Busy Weekend! 56K sorry
Clemsonranger03 tried painting his with "chrome" paint, but he said it was just silver.
Silver might not look too bad, but black looks SICK
See my thread for some pics of how Krylon Fusion Gloss Black turned out. As for prep work, I just took my grill out, washed it with soap and water, let it dry, then shot it with the Fusion paint. I put about 2-3 coats. I was gonna do clear on top, but I got the wrong kind of clear coat (o'reilly's didn't have fusion clear coat when i went), so it's just the paint.

sweet thanks guys.
I'd like to see pics of a silver painted grill. Painting it black would look good. It looks like dark gray right now, so I figured a paint job was in store.

I don't know if he took any pics of it when it was silver or not, you'd have to ask him.
I just taped mine up really good. Gotta little overspray around the grille from where I didnt mask good enough but I just took a q-tip and some paint thinner and wiped it right off.
I had my dad help me, as a second set of hands was REALLY REALLY helpful. We also sprayed a little bit of WD40 on the tabs...use the tube to control where it goes. Then use a really small/skinny screwdriver to GENTLY push the tab back, and use a bigger one to help pop the grill off the tab. The screwdriver part is where a second set of hands helps out a lot.
I just finished doing this a couple of weeks ago. Hers a link to the How to: https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...e-xlt-4x4.html
