im lookin to replace my grill with a billet grill but ive come across 1 thing
i need to know if i have a open or closed shell for my stock grill. Any ideas ?

 

Thats the first I have heard of that question, why do you need to know that?

 

if its open it has a grill surround at the top, if its open, it doesnt, like me..

Ah that makes sense now, I thought he was saying about 03 and earlier only open or closed.

 

well then it depends what model you have, cause i believe 2wd have the closed grill, and the 4x4 and edge models have open

 

ya it says in the acution im lookin at th 2wd is closed and 4x4 is open. its the 1st time ive herd of this to. ive got a 03 xl.

01-03 is CLOSED
04+ is OPEN

isnt it Closed for 01-03 because the hood comes down more and open on 04+ because of the new front end style (with the hood further up)?? or am i just retarded?

 

no its how the grill is surrounded.. like think of full circle or half circle..

everything over 04 is closed, the open closed difference only exists in 01-03.

4x4 XLT's and all Edges = open
2wd XLT's and XL's are the only ones that are considered "closed".

while technically yall with 04+ are "closed", their is no other option so you don't have to worry about it.

 

04+ the xl's and xlt's 2wd have closed because of the horizontal bars going across the middle section, whereas the edge and 4x4s have the center free of the horizontal bars, or open, i beleive its actually the same way for 01-03 as well
