got ignored in new ideas =(

so has any1 done anything like this?

i was trollin around on here today and got a great idea but im not sure how to go about it. my idea is this

a "pimped" camper shell. basically what i wanna do to it when i get it is this, put a moonroof or whatever (the one that dosent open) on it, and then a small fold down tv. now i know most beds have an plug in port but how hard you think this mod would be? it sounds relativly simple and cheap and i think if done right the whole thing can just pop off and on.

so basically what i want is oppinions, critics and all the other good stuff for the idea

its hopefully gonna be carpeted for a more stock look and then what im guessing i could do is run the wire under the carpet. the thing im most worried about is the roof. has any1 done something like this? cause i want it big so you can look up at the stars =)

so oppinions ideas and cost estimates would be super thanks.

oh and the tv isnt going to be huge just anice little 1 on a swivel yadda yadda yaa

other ppl who have done it or somethin similar would be greatly appriciated

I have thought about somewhat doing this if I ever got a shell. I'd only go as far as a fold down screen with DVD player and a set of speakers.

My idea included a fold down screen with a built in player and then some small computer speakers in the upper corners of the shell. Sub could be left in the cab if you really wanted one. Power would come from the battery for the screen/dvd player then an inverter for the computer speakers.

thats actually not a bad idea, would there be a way to like wire it all into 1 plug? like put 4 small comp speakers in each corner then put the fold down tv in 1 side cause i was thinkin for a biger tv on 1 end of the moonroof and then maby the dvd player on the other end, cause a MAJOR problem is the area i live so this thing is gonna have to be completly detatchable lol so i dont have it stolen

That would all have to be custom to have it detachable. I was thinking more like a SUV type fold down tv and maybe paining it so it doesn't look like anything.

For something like that you would have to build an overhead compartment across the whole shell so everything sits flush. You could even run the speakers in there.

Here was my plan:

A monitor/player like this

mounted so when you fold it down it faces the back of the cab.

Speakers

full range speakers mounted at the corners and sub sitting in the cab with the rear window open.

If you want a bigger screen you could use this 14.1 inch monitor

but you would have to send video to it. Maybe from a laptop sitting in the cab

yeah i could always build a compartment for it cause i was just gonna run the wires and then carpet the thing.

for speakers tho i was thinking something like these

cause i dont need extream sound lol itll only be for when i wanna just relax and watch a movie or when im campin and want off the ground

and then for the monitor maby something like

i cant seem to find exactly what im lookin for i might have to custom fab somethin or draw it up and then try it that way ill keep lookin.

Sounds like a cool idea. I've watched movies and stuff on my laptop in the back of my truck with my girlfriend. She keeps bugging me to take her back out camping again. We did some fishing, dinner, nice campfire, watched the campfire burn down as we were relaxing in the bed of the truck watching movies. It was pretty awesome.
