I am having a hard time finding a distributor that will fit in my '86. Problem is that the two I've bought are slightly larger than the original one. Where is a goop reputable place to get one? I have tried O'Rileys and Auto Zone.

The part that is to big is the part in the circle, more specifically the part with the arrow.


If you have a used one that works and want to sell it to me, let me know.

did you try advance also from what ive seen in parts stores they go by a computer to looks stuff up its never right get them to pull a distribor for a later are earler year. like i had to get some u jounts the other day they gave me the wrong ones for a 00 but i had them go back to a 98 and those were the right ones. its just odd on how much that computer is off

 

It may have been Advanced I went to, I always get the two mixed up. It's slim pickins on parts stores here. I live in a really small town. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion.

i don't remember why you said you need a new dist but couldn't you just get a rebuild kit for it from summit or jegs?

 

Don't really wanna rebuild it. I just wanna drop a new one in.

I called two JY's and one parts store with no luck so I tried a store in the next state and they will have it for me in the morning, hopefully this one will fit.
