Cheap HID kit on ebay?

Cheap HID kit on ebay?

I found this kit:

Xenon HID 9007 6000K Kit Hummer H2 03 04 05 03 04 05:eBay Motors (item 170407309565 end time Dec-15-09 07:04:11 PST)

It says its hi/lo beam. I just put on new headlights and corners, and some silverstar ultras, and i can not for the life of me get them angled properly. I can see directly in front of me, not ahead of me. They are pointing into the ground no matter how much I have messed around with the bolts.
So i give up, Im gonna get some HIDs since they scatter all over the place and the headlight angle probably wont matter.
But what do you think about this kit?
Should I just spend some extra cash and get a real kit? or get the cheap?

Why not just get this kit its only 7 dollars more and you get a lifetime warranty.LINK

Sounds good, Ill do that. 9007 right? And is it worth it to get the hi/lo, and are they reliable? or more likely to go bad? And is it worth it to get the 55w for an extra $10?

id personally stick with the 35w cause they draw enough power as it is

and yes 9007 for your headlights and 9145 or h10 for fogs

and keep in mind that other kit doesnt include that 12+ shipping

How would you wire these up so both fire on the high beam, like the HID low and the hallogen high fire on high beam?

ebay store: Autoluminate I'd stick with single beams...

I've had their kit on my fogs for the last almost 2 years without any issues, no relay harness(though I suggest it for fogs or headlights), and my buddy trevor has had them on his truck for over 3 years in both heads and fogs and has only had the typical common left/right fuse pop which was cured by a relay harness. Plus, at the time, they were about the only store that had 3000k's and 9145/H10's for the fogs.

Stay 35w, they're pretty damn bright as it is... I'd only do 55w in off road lights that aren't used during normal street driving.

They tie both sides together....alot of these "cheap" or "ebay" kits have a left/right start up issue. One side turns on, but the other side doesn't. Turn lights off. Turn back on and both work. Plus, I like taking power directly from the battery and using the factory plug as the 'switch' to flip on the relay. And ontop of that, with a relay harness, should that side you've triggering pop a fuse, you've got an extra right there in the other sides fuse spot.

Don't have to get a relay kit...you can make one for about $7.

alright I just ordered the $50 kit from autoluminate. Ill post pics when I get them installed. What does the install consist of anyways? Do I just run power from the battery to the ballast?

Ballasts you may recieve may be different...I actually prefer the slim ballast that you'll likely be getting. They seem alot more reliable and can be mounted virtually anywhere.

Sweet nice writeup! So there is no need to supply extra power? I thought they needed wire run from the battery

for the record the 55w kits wash out the color and I think they reduce the life of the bulbs.

The how-to shows pretty much exactly how you'll be doing yours. Power gets taken from the factory bulb plug. It's not the best, but it'll work. Worked for me for some time then I started fighting the left/right powering on issues that alot of people have mentioned having. Then threw in a relay and took power from elsewhere. I've yet to get off my butt and edit that thread to show the relay harness and it's advantages.

I think you're going HID for ALL the wrong reasons. Mainly the following:

First, get your headlights aimed right or you're going to be just as pissed with the HID's as you are now with the stock head lights. Brighter light isn't going to help poor aim. If you can't do it, take it to a shop.

Second, scattered light is a dazzler to oncoming traffic, annoying, and dangerous. Add the extra brightness from HID's and you're making a bad situation worse. Hoping the "scattering" of the HID light will make up for poor aim is a fools errand.

Third, head light angle most certainly will matter! They aren't adjustable for no reason at all.


Do it right, or don't do it at all.

Make or get a relay kit save yourself the the time and install it and the HID kit at one time. I STILL need to get off my **** and get a relay for my fogs. The headlights screwed up for me the first time I fired 'em up.

You must re-aim your headlights. There is no getting around this. It's easy if you have a small 1/4 inch socket set.

I agree. But, I have always kind of wanted HIDs, but now I kind of have a reason. What do I have to do to angle the headlights UP, so they're not pointing into the ground?? I know there is more to it than the little adjustment screw on the top, because I have turned it all the way clockwise and all the way counter clockwise and did not notice a difference.

Also, there's a relay kit on ebay for $8 shipped. Worth it? or go to radioshack?

If you didn't notice a difference something is wrong because thats how you adjust them. I noticed a big difference doing that, especially with HIDs.

then wtf??? lol they are brand new headlights. Ill have to take some pictures this weekend. Which way do you turn that screw to angle them up? And it should turn very easily right? i should not have to use force?

Yeah it should turn easily. I dont' remember which direction is which, its easier if you pull up to a wall and can see the actually beam move.

There's the two bottom adjustments you gotta play with too...

lol i know and I have messed with them for a good hour and no REAL noticeable difference. The ground in front of me is very bright, but it cuts off, its not like it fades away down the road, it just cuts off. Maybe the bulbs are upside down if thats possible? I dont know after I throw the HIDs in if its still no good Im gonna pay somewhere to do it

bulbs can't go in the housing if they're upsidedown...only go in one way...

If you just twist and twist those plastic things on the adjusters, it ain't gonna do squat because the threaded part has to be held still while you're threading the plastic side of the adjuster. it's a pain sometimes.
