'02 Ranger - Painted Stock Rims

Hey guys - had some free time today so I did an oil service and replaced a split PCV hose on the girlfriend's truck, and decided to ditch her wheel covers and paint up her stock rims and brake drums/calipers.

2002 Ford Ranger Edge, 3.0L V6, 2WD, Auto.

Before - With Stock Wheel Covers:

Before - Without Covers/Dirty:

After - Painted Rims Black, Calipers/Drums Red:

Wish I could do more to it but alas A) no monies and B) it's not even my truck :D

Thanks! There's an Advanced Auto Parts store next door to me so I just ran in and grabbed a couple cans of some engine paint. They didn't have anything that specified for rims so figured this was good enough. 1 can of primer and two cans of black. Just wish they came out a bit more glossy. Didn't have a clear coat. Dunno how long it'll last with normal driving. :D

Well they are actually imitation Chrome plastic wheel covers. I've got them sitting on the back patio right now collecting dirt. I could clean them up and post up pics...

That looks sharp! I went the opposite way and left my wheels chrome and painted the hubcaps but left the fake bolts on them chrome. As soon as I figure out my new camera, I may post a pick. Looks sharp! (again)

Yeah just covers. Not sure though if they were all like that or not. I'll try and get some pics of the covers up tonight or tomorrow morning.

Here are the wheel covers. A bit dirty since they've been sitting outside for quite some time. They came off her stock 15" wheels.

And two more of the truck from this weekend :D Don't mind the dirt on the back tire. The girlfriend got it stuck in a gravel driveway lol.

How'd she get it stuck? Lol I have no friggin' clue. I told her I was ashamed. She backed into it to turn around in a two lane area and some how got the back tires buried. Luckily a couple students helped pushed her out (she was on campus).

It's actually holding up very well. I washed the truck the other day with a pressure washer, and the rims had the typical dirt and brake dust on it. After a quick wash, they were back to looking pretty glossy actually. They've picked up a scratch or two though because I suck at getting the hub cap off when I rotated the tires, so I'm wondering if they'll start peeling from that or not.

If I remember this weekend, I'll post up some pics.
