2 SAS Rangers wheeling in Oregon

as many of you know ive been SAS'd for a while, but recently my friend ben (has a 94 Ranger) wanted to SAS his rig, so he bought some axles! full width d44 and 9 inch... same setup as mine! he goes to Oregon State with me but is from Cali. all his buddies wheel rocks and love the Rubicon Trail so he wanted a super low COG for his truck. he bought some 37 inch PITBULLS and the goal was about 6 inches of lift and full capability! we had to cut a lot of fender but it worked awesome! 3 weeks ago we flew down to Oakland, CA on a thursday night, and did the ENTIRE SAS in 2 days! worked all day saturday, drove it around that night and fine tuned it sunday! then on monday we drove it back from CA to oregon, 10 hour drive with the only incident was the water pump grenanding after we reached Corvallis! so yesterday was the first time taking his truck out, we rounded up the troops and headed out to our favorite wheeling spot .. bens truck did fairly well without being geared or locket yet. he is doing 5.13s and detroits very soon.my buddy got some OK pics, there are a bunch more on a friends camera... not to many action shots, but ill add more later!! ENJOY!

Nice. How did you get the SAS done in 2 days. You guys most have been flying. Or had it very well planned. Either way good job.

alot of hard work, plus i had done mine before so i knew what to expect.. we had all the parts ordered before we started too which was crucial... and im sure somebody will add that its easy cause its pre-97' truck and yes its easy if you kinda know what your doing

99ranger4x4 02-06-2010 07:24 PM

yea TTB SAS's are a ton easier.. Did you extend the radius arms or anything?

Dangerranger01 02-06-2010 07:32 PM

Hey, i saw your buddy's rig when i was walking to class. I meant to text you about it. i thought it was SAS but hard to tell....i did a double take, lol.

ok heres some more pics.. we also lifted my buddys jeep over christmas break... took 2 days... rough country 4.5 with 32s.... still is open open and hes looking to lock it up soon... it does real good on the trails because of the short wheelbase! tons of fun to drive. next thing to do is remove the sway bars on it!.. We also ran into a Oregon State Trooper. he was rolling in an 08 super duty, very cool looking! we talked to him for a while and he assured us that all the forest roads were ok for us to be on so im glad we straightned that out... anyways. here are the pics.

yah. like everyone else said, is way easier to do the SAS on the TTB trucks. and now that i know exactly what parts to use, i can do the swap pretty easily.. however SAS'ing a IFS truck is much more difficult and time consuming! we didnt not extend the radius arms on his or mine yet.. i bought the DOM for mine and he will do his also... he is planning to run coilovers soon and im thinking about going to air shocks and then extending the arms!

I noticed you have a spool in your D44? How do you like it? I loved having that traction knowing it wasn't gonna break and both tires were always spinning.

i like it and dont like it at the same time! it awsome for trails i can just mob and not worry about locking or unlocking but at the same time it sucks real bad for turning! and almost impossible to drive on the road.. however i picked up the yukon spool for 50 bucks and didnt have any more money for a locker... sometimes i wish i had more drivability and turning ability but at the same time its what i got and i know its it wont fail me..

TXRanger09 02-07-2010 08:42 PM

who shot the truck?
