On the interstate in the rain... just lost control, I think I just wasn't paying attention. On curve, went to the inside in the grass, was sliding sideways towards a guardrail, but missed it by about 3 feet and went back into the road. Up on two wheels, smashed back down and spun the other direction, going up on the other two wheels, landed it and came to a stop head on into the guard rail.

First and foremost, yes my STX grill is ok. could use some touch up paint.
And also, I was completely unscathed. Really thought I was lucky not to have rolled it.

the bad? the bedside is smashed up, I believe from my toolbox being ripped out. The toolbox is totaled. Will need at least one new tire and one new wheel. Probably an alignment as well. Oh and bent one of my tow hooks. All in all, not too bad, the ride was much rougher than the damage shows.

You can probably bend that bumper back to the right angle. you may need a new rim, that may be able to get fixed actually.

I think Rangers are kind of dangerous in turns in the rain. I wouldnt let some people drive mine in the rain that s for sure I ve almost lost it a couple times once towing a popup camper. Im hoping BFGs help it some I dont really care for Wranglers in it. Glad you and the truck made it though.

 

I guess this response applies to both, but, I only have liability. is that why i should have rolled it? woulda been a little counterproductive I think.

Not too worried about the bumper will probably just leave the damage because I am planning on getting a steel bumper made anyway. I guess I am stuck with the bed though.

Glad your ok. I do see your problem. Those wrangler rts are junk in the rain. Everyone that I have talked to hates them and replaces them. I bought Bridgestone Revos and they are awesome.

You were lucky to be ok and drive back home. Usually loosing control in the rain leads to worst damages.

How the toolbox bended the bed rail? Was not attached tight? Did the screws that was holding it just ripped off? or the whole thing just broke apart?

 

well i dont know if I even plan to fix the bed. we will see.

I actually think the toolbox might not have been attached at all, I seem to recall taking it off to clean it a week or so ago. can't recall fastening it back down. maybe if I had my bed would be okay. probably with all the flopping back and forth it went up and came back down on the bed rail. lesson learned I guess. might just try and hammer it out or get prerunner fenders and the Dixon bros 4wd long travel kit... or maybe just the hammer.

 

if you put the tool box back in, will it cover the large dent? how noticeable is it from the side of the truck?

 

Expensive mistake huh? Only liability on an 06? Crazy...my Bronco still has full coverage. Both trucks have a 100 dollar deductible. Has come in handy a couple times.

and BTW that wheel is SAVIBLE ive saved a few at work and looks like u just popped the bead on the tire unless u popped a hole in it itll be fine bring it by and ill take a look at it

 

man i would but my dad came up and swapped me and he's taking care of it. I am gonna tell him to hang onto what's left though. i dont know if the wheel is savable, maybe, but it is beat up pretty bad. might just be hard to tell from the pic.

u cant fix the scrub off the wheel but then bend is easy

 

That was one of those "need to change underwear" moments for sure.
