Congrats on the new truck! What were the problems you were running into with the Ranger again? Hope you didn't lose too much on the deal!

98liftedranger 08-02-2012 07:02 AM

Both trucks are nice. Congrats on the new purchase!

dixie_boysles 08-02-2012 07:10 AM

nice truck, I see the 3.7 has almost 100 more HP than the 4.0. What kind of price is a new XLT like that with the V6 option and all. Because if you think about it, you are a prime example of why Ford stopped with the Ranger, they can get you into a XLT F150 for about what a Loaded Ranger cost lol...

yup. and they screwed everybody looking for a new truck for 18K. I know i couldnt afford to drive a f-150, plus id kill myself trying to drive that around town or park it in our malls.

Try driving and parking a crew cab dually. As much of a hassle as it was at times, I loved it.

Very true, if you want a new truck you wont find an F150 for 18k. But shoot a brand new Ranger equipped like an FX4 or so was 25k plus....

But yeah it can be a hassle parking a big ol F150, as as far as affording it, they get the same mileage as the Ranger, its just a bigger tank. So it may seem like you are spending more when you fill up because you are filling a bigger tank, but that bigger tank will last longer. Its not a matter of MPGs, but a matter of tank capacity...

imo. if you were going to get a v6, shoulda paid the little bit extra and gotten the ecoboost. nice looking truck tho

since i bought the ranger last august its been in the shop on an average of once a month, the first issue was a rattling rear door, it turned out that the door needed to be replaced, then from there is got worse, it needed an alternator, had electrical issues where when i put on the brakes, every single light in the truck would also turn on, then there was a clunk, that has never been fixed due to the dealer not being able to find it, it even got a new drive shaft at 8000k and that didn't fix it, from there the headlights started to flutter bad, then it sprung an oil leak that requires tearing 80% of the truck apart to find it, so that's a week at the dealer, the weld in the exhaust broke, so it rattles like crazy, the air compressor started grinding, the transmission is slipping, there's a new clunk in the front end, pretty sure that the steering box is going due to the excessive wheel play, all this before 19000k, and this truck has never been bagged!! so going by all the stuff wrong with the truck and having to come back multiple times to find those problems, i traded it in

to get into the ecoboost was another 7g's so i decided to go with the v6, it has more than enough jam for me

Mcleary316 08-02-2012 05:13 PM

Jesus. All those problems on a 2011???! Sounds like ford let a reject get by inspection.

the price i paid for the f150 was only 2g more than what i paid for the ranger, as for the mileage, the 3.7 gets much more MPG than the ranger, my ranger averaged 14 mpg city and 17-18 highway, the f150 so far gets 18mpg city average, and the 23 highway, and the engine isn't technically broken in yet, yes the tank is bigger than the ranger, but when considering that the ranger is a 74L tank and gets only 315-320 k where as the f150 is a 136L and gets 838k to a tank. if i filled the ranger twice, then it would technically be a 146L and only get 630-640 to a tank, this is all based in city driving, so if one does the math, then the ranger would require even more fuel to only get roughly 200k less than the f150 , whereas the f150 would get 200k more to the tank on less fuel, the 3.7 would not only beat the mileage of the ranger, but would do it with 100hp more :D

yeah it was getting ridiculous, the guy at ford canada agreed with me, and thus issued a trade in credit of $2600 to go towards the new truck

01_ranger_4x4 08-02-2012 05:19 PM

Nice truck! That 3.7 isnt the torque monster that its bigger (smaller) ECO brother is but for a DD it will handle fine. For a NA V6 it puts out impressive numbers.

djfllmn 08-02-2012 05:26 PM

nice f150 man...i did the full size mod not too long ago myself and havent looked back at all

Mcleary316 08-02-2012 05:28 PM

You only got $2600 in trade in value?
