I wanna manual sooo bad.

chainfire 04-11-2009 10:12 AM

Click Click Click, Boom!

Lol, it was the best thing that I have done to my truck by far. Watch for leaking though, I had an issue, and had to make a vent.

tonkaranger04 04-11-2009 10:15 AM

looks sweet man.. i really wanna get one of them

TheStig88 04-11-2009 10:15 AM

mossyoak03 04-11-2009 11:04 AM

i love mine. couldn't be more precise shifting into gear and hearing the click. makes me want to go for a drive right now.

Ford04Ranger4.0 04-11-2009 11:08 AM

Trigger01 04-11-2009 11:12 AM

Nice. I kinda wish I had the need for one.

Fx4wannabe01 04-11-2009 02:06 PM

I LOVE MINE TOO!!!

Wade 04-11-2009 02:32 PM

Do these still have the issue with leaking or did they get that taken care of?

robert99ranger 04-11-2009 02:57 PM

Looks awesome man. I wish I could afford one. How much did that run you?

Mine leaked. It is not just the design of the shifter, more the design of the trans. The vent for the trans is located in the factory shifter. The Hurst does not incorporate that in.

If you have any issues with it, there is a good HOW TO on RPS, to fix it. It is pretty much replacing the gasket, and cutting in a "vent". I had to do it to mine, and besides a little weeping, there is no visible signs of it leaking.

Fx4wannabe01 04-11-2009 09:26 PM

Theyve gotta breathe. Stock breather is taken out when the Hurst is installed, because its located on the pivot assy. No breather = pressure buildup, oil pushes through the weakest point, thus making what appears to be a leak.

Here's the fix link: http://www.rangerpowersports.com/for...d.php?t=216431

so should i wait and see if it leaks or go ahead and get some gasket material?

A little over 200 new from summit. had to do a little side job to get it but worth it to me anyway.

id get some. i got some from home depot. its easy to make. i haven't had any problems.

Rolldogg 04-13-2009 06:51 AM

Now that's a sweet gasket idea. I was turned off from the Hurts shifters because of complaints of rattling noise and leaks. Looks like the leak issue is fixed, but what about the rattling noises?

Fordranger1998 04-13-2009 08:26 AM

leak issue is fixed hurst came out with a new gasket mine doesn't leak but they are still a bit noisy if you drive with your radio off but mines always on so i never hear it

mossyoak03 04-13-2009 09:47 AM

i haven't noticed mine rattling yet

Dangerranger01 04-13-2009 09:59 AM

just turn the volume up!

Nah, mine does a little in 4th, but it isn't horrible. The shifter is already loud to begin with, the rattling isn't too bothersome.

TrePaul86 04-13-2009 10:23 AM

Good buy man! I love my hurst too! And being manual..... Hurst and manual FTW!!!!

EStrauch12 04-09-2011 08:06 PM

Sorta a noob question, but what does FTW stand for? haha I cant figure it out.

4XFord 04-09-2011 08:59 PM

I haven't had a problem with leaking so far but I drilled and tapped a hole into the side of the circular mounting plate. Threaded in a small fitting. Some plastic or high temp tube routed up into the engine compartment. Just push the tube into the fitting and it locked. Squeeze the fitting and pull it out. Looks pretty good.

Taylor 04-09-2011 09:14 PM

FTW

For The Win

Still loving my hurst. Had to custom fab an extension, and it was worth the trouble.

Havnt really noticed any leaking. I may have a weep every now and then.
