Installed Some Offroad Lights

9 Attachment(s)
I picked up a pair of 100W driving KC Slimlites at 4 Wheel Parts (only because I had a gift card) and mounted them behind the grille. The light output at night is great even though it is difficult to tell in the crappy night pics. For now I have them aimed to serve as brights above the HID heads.

Enjoy!

looks good, when i installed my fogs i didnt even aim them, so at night theyre higher than my headlights rofl. i really need to aim them

03whtEDGE 08-09-2009 05:52 PM

Ha, yeah aiming makes a big difference, especially with the fogs.

rangerboy101 08-09-2009 06:18 PM

Looks good! Makes me want some lights behind my grille.

03whtEDGE 08-09-2009 06:24 PM

Yeah man, they fit like a glove back there. Kind of gives it a Mustang wannabe look.

venom97 08-09-2009 06:35 PM

very nice!

rizoss16 08-09-2009 06:52 PM

how much are those and where do I get them? :)

03whtEDGE 08-09-2009 06:59 PM

They are around $165-180 depending where you get them. I paid $165 for the kit at 4 Wheel Parts but you can find them on the web for around the same price. Just google "KC Slimlite" and you will gets tons of info.

The lights look good. How did you get your scangaugeII to stay where you have it?

04blackedge 08-09-2009 08:16 PM

I had my scangauge there as well, if you dremel out just enough to fit it in there with some force it will stay in there pretty good

03whtEDGE 08-09-2009 08:42 PM

I dremeled out enough of bottom and sides the little tray that sits down there and then used really thin double sided tape to secure it to the remaining top piece. Kind of hard to explain but it came out well.

Love lights behind the grille. x2 on the switch!

dgabr1 08-09-2009 09:05 PM

looks great, i'm looking into doing this when i have the money. How much clearance do you have from the radiator and your grill?

03whtEDGE 08-09-2009 09:11 PM

Do you mean clearance from the lights to the grille? If so there is about an inch and a half at the closest point.

edgeman4.0 08-09-2009 09:18 PM

one of my favorite mods. i did the same thing and love it. my next mod is gonna be doing my heads and fogs like yours witht teh hid's. looks great.

08XLT4x4 08-09-2009 09:50 PM

I love it!!!

tonkaTim 08-09-2009 10:12 PM

were can I get the yellow bulbs for my fogs?

03whtEDGE 08-09-2009 11:19 PM

HID conversion off e-bay for about $60. I have seen yellow colored halogen bulbs but they are not near as bright as the HID's.

Machine090767 08-10-2009 12:08 AM

looks great!

I need to add the KC`s behind grill. I also have HID but when out on country road cant see squat with no brights. How are they mounted? or what are they mounted to?

03whtEDGE 08-10-2009 11:03 AM

They are mounted upside down to the fiberglass header panel that the grille, headlights, ect. are mounted to. If you remove the grille and the black shroud that directs air into the radiator you will be left with the header panel. There is a top level and a bottom level to the panel which you can see by looking at the back of the panel from the engine compartment side. I used the bottom level to drill my mounting holes and then used a hole saw to drill access holes to the mounting bolts in the top level. Depending on how far you want the lights set back into the grille you might have to trim the header panel and the shroud to get the needed clearance.
