The eBay LED 3rd brake light

Attachment 187321

LED 3157. 24 LEDs. I don't like them during the day as they aren't bright enough. But at night they're great!

Attachment 187322

Great color though

Nice!

I may need to get another set of clear corners so i can accent them.

0RangerEdge2 10-11-2008 08:21 PM

Those are stock amber corners by the way.

I'm going to get clear corners in the next couple weeks. I've got a few mods coming soon. This is just the start.

93MVSplash 10-12-2008 06:28 PM

Sweet man and agreed I actually have 34 LED 3157s and they still are not that bright during the day but my tails are blacked out

0RangerEdge2 10-12-2008 07:17 PM

Well I have the 63 LED ones in the brake lights. They are relatively bright but they're getting changed soon hopefully.

As far as the fronts, they're the 24 LED one's from eBay and they suck. Brilliant color and pretty bright at night but quite unsafe during the day. I think I'm going to switch them out as soon as funds come my way. I have a few things I need to sell still and also waiting to get paid from both jobs.

sullys_ranger 10-12-2008 08:18 PM

Damn tyler, I bet people hate you at night time! lol Any plans on hid's? Looks awesome btw! After you do your gauges Ill trade you trucks and have you do mine!

0RangerEdge2 10-12-2008 08:40 PM

I'm definitely planning on HID's like freddie has. I want the hi/low feature to be retained. Not sure what I want to do with the fogs though. They make a 9005 with a bunch of LED's on them but I don't know how bright they'd be.

As far as your gauges, I'll do them for you or at least help. I'm getting a spare gauge cluster soon so once I finish with it I can mod the other one and send it to you if you want.

3 watt Cree LED fogs
OR
68 M-SMT LED fogs

sullys_ranger 10-12-2008 08:58 PM

hmm, Ill keep that in mind.

WowMike2001 10-13-2008 12:49 AM

LED fog and SMT fogs are useless; thy dont have NEAR enough output for distance like teh stock lights to actually come in use; On the other hand; they look fantastic when installed ;)

Well if I wind up getting HID headlights I doubt I'd use the fog lights much. But maybe I'll just go all out and do 3000K in the fogs and 6000K in the headlights.

Mike do you have the LED fogs or something? If so post pictures of those babies!

GrafixGuy 10-13-2008 07:12 AM

man those amber LEDs look great!!!

seed60 10-13-2008 07:57 AM

Those look great. I hope to do this one day.

telemaster1952 10-13-2008 08:13 AM

They look really good at night and still pretty good during the day I guess. It cleans up the front when they're off because there isn't an ugly orange glow in the housing anymore. Once I get clear corners it'll really clean up the front end.

xXcecinestpasXx86 10-13-2008 12:56 PM

so Tyler where did you get the LED's from ebay Im guessing, can't find any of the right ones at any parts stores.. LAME

0RangerEdge2 10-13-2008 01:05 PM

All of them came from ebay. A store called US Home Direct. They stock all sorts of LEDs.

Trigger01 10-13-2008 01:40 PM

I ordered more LED's for my truck yesterday. I already have clears in my corners, but I will have them for front and rear signals and back up lights. My 3rd brake light on my cap is already LED. I am ready to get them in.

0RangerEdge2 10-13-2008 01:45 PM

I wonder what they'll look like on a red truck? Haha. Good to hear you're going LED, Mike.

This picture looks amazing! - I love how the camera took this picture as the eye would see it. you either have an amazing camera, or you just know how to use it much better than I do. I have been trying to get pictures like this for such a long time.

Which LEDs are you using for footwell lighting? I am using small 4-LED pods from autolumination.

I am so jealous of your pictures - they are fantastic!

GrafixGuy 10-13-2008 07:15 PM

he probably used a tripod bro... makes night photos so much better...

I'm a wanna-be when it comes to photography. I'm just learning how to use exposure.

0RangerEdge2 10-13-2008 09:38 PM

I'm going to school for that type of thing so that's why they came out so well. The camera is about three years old. 5mp Kodak. Gets the job done. I post-process everything to correct the color if the camera doesn't capture it right.

And Jp7, I'm willing to bet you'll laugh at what I have for footwell illumination.

Cheapo LED sticks from Wal-Mart. $10 a piece and they're about 10 inches long. Works really well and they were easy to hook up.

Oh and yes I used a tripod.

WOAH! how did i miss this thread!?? lol.

Looks great!! Time to crack open those cruise pods!!
Attachment 187247

0RangerEdge2 10-13-2008 09:48 PM

Shane until you write a How-To I won't do it. Haha, actually I'm just going to use the John Griggs method.

I need to do the cruise pods and the headlamp switch. Then comes the gauges. I'm going junkyarding soon to find either another cluster or an Explorer cluster if I get lucky.

Fx4wannabe01 10-13-2008 09:56 PM

nice!! I followed griggs' how-to on it. One thing I did that griggs didn't.....was use TWO 5mm LED's in each pod rather than just one. I got pics...want them here or your build thread or whatever?
