Lightning Exhaust

Finally broke down and cut off my pipes and replaced them with a lightning style exhaust out the passenger side before the right tire. Let's just say that I am disturbing the peace now lol.

Here's some pics.

You guys and the vids! Haha I'm just messing. But no I have actually planned on videoing it tomorrow. If I can find the dang tripod, hmmm.

Taylor: Let's just say that I should have done this when I had the 10 series put on. It is so aggressive my neighbor told me to slow down when I pull into my driveway and such. But the take offs are insanely loud and throaty as all get out. To be honest it sounds like a small block V8 until higher rpms. So overall...I freaking love it. Def the sound I have been wanting for a longggg time. And there is no drone on the highway which is unexpected lol.

Michael: My wheels are Procomp Xtreme Alloy Chrome 6089 wheels. They are a 16X8 wheel with 4.5 BS I think. Thanks for the comment!
Here's the wheels off the Procomp site if you wanna check them out. http://www.procompusa.com/productlis...10&ptid=100073

Gotcha. So would you prefer the side exit over the rear dual setup?

Hmm at least for what I use the truck for. I can understand that out the side could possibly get in the way while fourwheeling, but I am not a hardcore offroader. I just use my four wheel drive for work, fishing, and hunting. So b/c of the sound, tone, and looks, I like the side exit a lot better now.

Aight! Here's the best vid I could come up with today. My camera man bailed on me this afternoon, so I had to put the camera on the ground. Haha, anyways here's the vid.

Ha! nice.

Where did you get the tips? I just cut my 3 inch tips off, and I will probably use them again with this setup. Come on taxes!!

Thanks for the vid.

Thanks man! Hopefully I can get a better one with the expensive camera next week. My dad has it with him.

The tips came from the muffler shop. I loved the rolled and angle cut like that!

Dude I am telling you, you will love this set up when you get it done. If you want loudness and grunt, the lightning style is for you. Haha but youre welcone for the video!

Well Matt, I just ordered my super 10.

I cut off my tips in order to be able to mount my custom bumper I am making, and the super 44 I have doesnt sound as good without the tips. So, Ill sell my 44 and run this setup out the side.

It looks a lot cleaner in the rear without the pipes IMO. Im excited now, cant wait.

Nice man!

Do you plan on saving the tips for the lightning exhaust? Or are they the wrong style that you want? Yeah the 40 series is prob a lot like the super 44 and just didn't give me enough sound in my opinion. By the way, when that bumper is finished, it's gonna look sweet lol.

But I would have to agree. Now that I have no pipes in the back, I am a believer too. No pipes in that back looks really clean and not cluttered.

Ha yeah man, I can understand why you would be excited. I have already received several comments on my exhaust and it was just done Thursday lol.

You definitely need to post some pics of the exhaust when it's a done deal! And a damn video too since you give me a hard time about it! Hahaha just kidding! Good luck with the build man!

I have the tips with the pointed ends, but I still plan on using them to run out the side.

I spent too much on them things not to use them lol.

Yeah progress on the bumper is SLOW, but ill get it done one day.

Thanks.

What all did it take to fab the new one on to the OEM exhaust pipe? Did you bolt up to the end of the cat pipe?

Good idea, no need to buy more stuff when you can just recycle!

Yeah I can understand how work can be slow. And the money thing too lol.

Well before I had the lightning style, I had a cat back dual exhaust already on it. I have a 3" resonator pipe right after the last cat which is about 3ft long I would say. But the Super 10 muffler is just welded right onto the resonator pipe. Then I have 2.5" pipes from the muffler out the side. In order to fit the muffler, the exhaust man had to put the muffler at a slight upwards angle, almost straight up and down to clear the driveshaft and frame. The outlet on top of the muffler is the back pipe and the one on the bottom is the front pipe. It fits nicely and doesn't rattle a bit.

But with the OEM pipe you could do the same thing and just buy a dual out muffler. Either a 40 series or even 10 series flowmaster muffler. I am pretty sure you can just cut off your stock muffler, cut the pipe the pipe that runs down under the cab, and weld the muffler on in a way to fit it correctly, then run the pipes.

I have the 2.3 and would like a bit more rap out of the tail pipe Maybe I'll take the oem off and try the bone yard and mock something up till I get the fit right. It bolts up at the cat so I'll only have to find a few pieces.
Thanks,

Yeah man, I think that would sound pretty good on a 2.3. Maybe like a good single in single out muffler or even a dual out.

My super 10 came in the mail yesterday.....the good.

The bad......the muffler shop that I usually does my work wanted $200 to put it on....what!?

So I went to a closer muffler shop (the one that I was told to stay away from because of their high prices) quoted me HALF that.......but they didnt have time to put it on, closing time.

So, it might be monday before I get this thing on.
