Shifter is WAY short w/o an extension on a bodylifted truck. It IS doable w/o making anything, but even with the 1" bl, i made this extention to get the ball right where it was perfectly comfortable for me. BL does nothing that 'hurts' the performance of the hurst, what it does hurt is the comfortability of driving(ie, ball location to hand).
Here's my solution: 1/4" x 1.5" flatbar, 1" raise, 1 1/8" back...and the way i mounted it, shifted the arm 1/4" towards the driver....
Here's a stock stock with unmodded hurst(notice visible length of arm)
Here's my truck w/ 3" bodylift and that extention posted above...
My next plan is doing a straight up 3" lift on the shifter, and play with it more to make it just perfect for me. Right now with my bracket, i cannot havea drink in the center console if the center console is in the stock position. 2nd and espicially 4th and reverse, the ball hits the cup/glass/beer etc. lol..

Hurst replaces the entire rotator ball assy from inside the trans, to above the trans, thus creating a shorter throw. the hurst and a stock shifter is completley different. it also gives very positve feel and gear engagement. i love it. combine it with a nice grabby clutch, and proper gearing, and it's sex on wheels.
