Superlift for Christmas?

After putting these two side by side I am completely sold on the super lift.. its only takin me 2 years but I think I'm finally gonna do it this Christmas. Just crossing my fingers there's a new set still laying in the back of some where house :big grin: lol

Now on to finding a wheel tire combo.. thinking Pro Comp 7005 in 17x9 (only option for 5x4.5 bolt pattern) and 295/70/17 nitto trail grapplers.. thats a 33.54 x 11.97 x 17 tire so basically 33.5 x 12.. its an interesting tire size but it may be perfect for me because I want taller and wider than my current 285/70/17 terra grapplers (32.76 x 11.50 x 17) but personally i think the 33x12.5 sometimes look a little to wide for only being 33" tall. Only thing is I love having a lot of tire stick out past the fender so I think I need a lot of backspacing. I already messaged you fullscale but whats the backspacing of your wheels?

opinions on the plans?

Have you thought about a 17x10 wheel? that would be better than a ton of backspacing and or spacers.

A 17x10 will stretch a tire out wider and make it look wide even if its the same tire on a 17x9.

I have 17s now and I wanna say there 17x10 but I'm not sure. But the thing is I like for the tire to bulge out a past the rim which it barely does on my current setup. My friend had a set of 285/65/18 trail grapplers (32.8 x 11.9) on 18x9 xd addicts on a tacoma and they stuck out a good inch or more past the fenders and maybe a half inch past the rim but they were only 12" wide. I really liked the stance of it so I'm trying to get close to that.

The only 7005 they offer in 5x4.5 bolt pattern has 4.75 inch backspacing and -6mm offset. Is that going to put a 33.5x12 tire past my fenders?. I need to know the BS and offset of FULLSCALE's wheels and I should be able to tell if I'm going to like it. If its the same/close then ill like it because personally i think if you made the tires a little taller and not quite so wide on FULLSCALE's truck it would proportionally look better with the 4" lift. I think, for the 12.5 wide to proportionally look good on rangers, you have to be double lifted. Enough rambling though. FULLSCALE needs to reply! haha

edit: i attached a picture of some 295/70/17 nitto trails on 17x8 7005s. think that would fit and look good under a 4" superlift on my truck?

Your current wheels look like 17x9s

To answer your question about how far it would stick out.

Currently your wheels are 17x9 with 4.5" of BS, so roughly 4.5" of the wheel will stick out past the mounting surface (rotor)

15x10s with 3.75" BS, roughly 6.25" of the wheel will stick out past the mounting surface (rotor)
15x8s with 3.75" BS, roughly 4.25" of the wheel will stick out past the mounting surface (rotor)

Your new 17x9s with 4.25" BS, roughly 4.75" of the wheel will stick out past the mounting surface (rotor)

So if you buy the Procomps they will stick out .25" further than what you have plus the width of the tire.

4" SL=$1,200
3" BL=$200

Think about this a little bit before you spend the money.

Well the pro comps are actually 4.75" not 4.25" backspacing so would that make them stick even further out than .25" + the tire or less? Don't forget there -6mm offset.. Idk if that makes much difference.

And as for the BL being $200 and the SL being $1600 not $1200 well the BL is a BL and the superlift is a suspension lift.. I'm hoping to be able to uncrank my torsion bars back to factory after I lift it to gain some ride quality back but I won't be surprised if it doesn't get any better. The real reason I wanna get the superlift is because if I'm gonna do something I generally do it the better/best way possible.. If there was a 3" suspension lift for $200 I would have bought it along time ago but there isn't which is why I've been driving on cranked bars for 2 years but now I think I wanna lift it. To me I'd rather have a ranger on cranked tbars than have one that's got a 3" body lift on it but I'd rather have a ranger with a 4" suspension lift than both.

You need to do some reading about this. Mainly about Superlifts and the fact that you're spending $1600 for nothing.

haha i won't be getting much bigger tires than I already have and my ride quality is poo right now. but I'm on maxed tbars so theres a reason its like that. hopefully it will be restored when I can uncrank my bars after the lift but maybe not. can anyone confirm this?

and sullys can you post a picture or two of your truck? it sounds sweet

that thread pretty much sums up how I feel about the super lift. I've done all the researching there is to do. its just an opinion at this point and obviously my opinion is different than yours.

Backspacing is the measurement from the back of the wheel to the mounting surface on the wheel.

Offset is the measurement from the mounting surface on the wheel to the center of the wheel.

If backspacing changes so does offset. They are one in the same.

As for the wrong number i used, if they are indeed 4.75 then the amount of wheel that sticks out past the rotor is 4.25"

Take the width of the wheel minus the backspacing and thats how far it sticks out from the wheel mounting surface. (rotor)

The larger the backspacing the further the wheel sticks in under the fender. The smaller the backspacing the further the wheel sticks out. That is the general rule of thumb, though wheel width plays a large factor. Stock is 4.75 I believe.

Ah yeah i've seen that truck before. looks good man. do the step bars attach to the frame or body? the PA body lift comes with front bumper relocation brackets right? the only real things you have to fix after doing a BL is the trailer hitch, the gap in between the frame and the truck bed, and the frame showing under the truck right? or is there more?

hitch and gap under the bed through the fender wells. The frame underneath doesnt really show that much. Less than the typical stock 1/2 ton chevy

whats the easiest way to fix the hitch if you can't fabricate your own stuff? does anyone sell them?

There is one company that sells a hitch. talk to RazorsEdge, (ryan) he did something with a hitch he bought. I think he mounted it on the top part of the frame. That turned out really good.

dont you have to move brake lines or some other lines also? and your engine will sit lower under the hood, which is only useful if you're doing a motor swap or adding a supercharger.

also if you have tow hooks they will have to move as well and then you're gonna sacrifice some strength of the tow hooks if you ever need them to pull.

personally i'd just stick to your original plan. you have already gotten used to the idea of spending the extra money, and it would be better anyway. if you're gonna listen to someone about wasting money, dont listen to someone with two 15s.

agreed. 1200 dollars later you'll still have tbars. add the driveshaft and you're looking more money.

if you get the superlift, do a coilover swap but people saying they'll make brackets so far haven't lol

Interesting. Thanks for answering all my questions zabeard haha

Dude don't even go there.. if RCD still made a production 5" coilover conversion lift kit for my truck and it was high quality (reliable and didn't break **** 24/7) and it was under $2500 I would buy it today.. The superlift really is crap because it's a garbage *** lift that is waaaay over priced but what all the body lift fanboys forget at the end of the day is even with it being garbage as far as suspension lifts go and overpriced for what it is.. It's still a ton better than a body lift haha

Ive had both. I wouldnt say one is better than the other in any fashion. With a ranger its tough. I like both. If I had a choice though I would start with the suspension lift.
