New Truck... but I jumped ship.

As some of you may remember about five months ago I sold my '01 Ranger and bought an '04 Explorer 4x4. I liked it but it didn't fit my needs. I need a truck. I have been looking for a Sport Trac for a while and went to the dealership to look at one, but then saw an '01 Dodge Dakota 4x4... Saw it and that was it. Serves all my needs. Has a bed(5 1/2') and a quad cab. I needed to be able to haul people on occasion too.

Mods so far: Shorty Antenna, ScanGuage II, & a Jensen flip screen.
Specs: 01' Quad Cab, w/ 4.7 V8 Magnum, Spray in bed liner, 4wd.

I am not interested in a bunch of negative comments so please keep them to yourself. Thanks.

Enough said! What do you think a couple weeks and it will be done? ;)

01RangerEdge 10-02-2011 01:34 PM

Looks good, but it definitely needs a lift.

Have you looked into power adders for the 4.7?

robert99ranger 10-02-2011 01:35 PM

Looks nice. My cousin has one exactly the same but green. Only issue he has had with his is that he has replaced the rear end 3 times.

korey89 10-02-2011 01:39 PM

Those things are even worse than rangers lol. And that front plate is so gay lmao

fourliter dan 10-02-2011 01:47 PM

i looked into exactly that before i got my ranger. there not bad, there not great, kinda pugetory lol, just like a ranger. i dont mind them a bit. i will miss your ranger for sure tho. that was one mighty nice ranger.

KLC 10-02-2011 01:50 PM

Looks good.

BettyVo7Ranger 10-02-2011 01:56 PM

i loved your truck man.

hurley 10-02-2011 02:03 PM

You should get some cab lights. Is the steering fishy? Every dodge I've driven had terrible steering

Tys 4x4 FTW 10-02-2011 02:19 PM

right on man. I don't care much for the looks of those, but it's a step up from a ranger any way you look at it.

4 doors and v8. WIN!

Taylor 10-02-2011 03:00 PM

I like it.

Do you havve any future plans for it?

StxDangerRanger 10-02-2011 03:00 PM

I had one of those, first truck my old man bought me in high school. had the same engine i think. but it was reg cab. they're alrite trucks.
Get some bigger tires and it'll look mean. I just saw one like that with some Duratracs on it a while ago, looked pretty good.

dixie_boysles 10-02-2011 03:33 PM

FULLSCALE 10-02-2011 05:15 PM

Not a bad looking truck... what kind of mileage do they get?

Not sure yet, I've only had it for 8 days and the first tank of gas I had done a lot of hard driving enjoying the V8 and towing so not sure.

Dynomax exhaust, tuner, and maybe an intake, but not much.

The four doors was the selling point, the V8 just helped

No it isn't.

No lift, may crank the t-bars on it a bit this week before I get an alignment though. I haven't looked to much into power add ons because I dont have much money, but I will probably add exhaust, tuner and intake.

Only issues I know of with those is rear ends, the typical Dodge fronts that each ball joints, bearings, and CVs for breakfast, and cheap sensors. And the 4.7L has some oil pressure issue or something...my neighbors Durango seized up due to it. Can't remember what it was. He had a magnaflow on it that sounded great under load but stayed quite while cruising.

had mine for two years. put 3 sets of ball joints in it during then.

Jason8n 10-02-2011 07:51 PM

Wirelessly posted (Droid2)

It'll sound great with a magnaflow. Nice looking truck.

04x4ranger 10-02-2011 08:12 PM

not bad, V8 even better.

RLong31 10-02-2011 08:53 PM

I'd drive it. Put good quality parts on when the old ones go bad, you'll be alright. I would see about maybe getting some clear headlights/corners... just a simple mod. 4 doors and V8 must be nice too.

Fink132 10-02-2011 09:16 PM

You had a nice ranger, but that new truck is pretty nice too.
I've always been a fan of those trucks

Not gonna bug you about "jumping ship" at all
