The 97s had what, 3.55's? And 38's...wow. I bet it drags ***. He needs to re gear or drop the lift and tire size.

Does he have the 318 (5.2) or 360 (5.9)?

That makes me miss my Dodge.

I think the thing that makes it look stupid aitting is that it is on the curb with a truck that big it just makes it look like it tweaked its frame. I think it looks pretty good otherwise

youve obviously never been on a Tacoma TRD forum. Everything bad that was just said here about that Dodge pales in comparison to what the 05+ taco guys say about our Rangers

yeah its a bit slow, my trucks blows it away. if he would put it in 4low i doubt i could beat him though. never tried. but he doesnt offroad too often and he drives it easy so it needs gears but it hasnt hurt anything yet.

why? because he doesnt have money to blow on his truck to make look new? you know SOME people have to work with what they have.

I disagree, but that's because I've driven practically every light pickup that's on the road. While I do put that gen of half ton Dodge above the newer style as far as my own personal opinion goes, it's not that close to the top.

I love my 98 Dodge, and I bought it because it was low mileage and I could pay cash. I have a 318 and 3:55's with stock tires I still get the same mileage as my ranger (average about 17). The only Things I have replaced on it are things that were gunked up because it had so low of miles. I was nervous about the tranny, but I learned a few things about the main issues with them. They had a batch of cad sensors in the tranny and they have are really easy to change. Most Tranny shops take the symptoms and either take it as a bad tranny or more probable, they rebuild the tranny's knowing about the easy fix just to get more money out of the customer.
