Shane, there are junkyards down here, but you can't find newish cars/trucks on them. The newest car/truck you can find down there are 97, 98. I went to a lot of junkyards, stuff is really expensive down here. No wonder I had to modify my differential cover. We get to import a 10 yo car/truck. Nothing newer. Last year I looked for a chrome grille for my truck and couldn't find any. I had to travel to the Mexico-USA border and still couldn't find any. I live a couple of hours away from the Laredo or McAllen, Texas border. I just have to find the time to go over there and look for stuff for my Ranger. Oh, and stuff online is expensive, too. My boss owns a Benz and he went to McAllen and got the entire front suspension for half the price he would've bought it here. If I can assist you on anything, PM me.

I've got a Ford parts hook-up up here but havn't ever tried to see about getting Mexico parts at all. I have a feeling it'll be fairly hard to do.

Hahaha. First, they are taken to an impound lot. After a while, and if the owner does not claim the vehicle and pays the fees for it, the city sells those vehicles as junk and the people buying those vehicles take them to a junkyard. I don't know if that's different up there.

Yeah...about the same way up here in the states. lol. Wrecked cars get impounded in tow company lots and/or body shops. Then when insurance does what they've gotta do, they get auctioned off and junkyards buy 'em. Sometimes ticketed cars get impounded in the same towing yards and if there's a non-pick up of the car, they too are auctioned off to yards or sold with a bill of sale/no title.

Ain't it driving with the tailgate down illegal over there? There's a Chevy around my place with its tailgate all effed because the dude didn't put a red flag on the tailgate so people could keep a safe distance from it. lol.

 

Nah, in Oregon if something sticks out more than 4feet past the back of the vehicle, you need to put a red streamer on it...its hard to judge distance when something like that is hanging out the back. Tailgates are fine to keep down...the dude that hit your friends must of been a 'tard.

 

Last week I had to drive with the tailgate down, and a bus almost hit me. Yesterday, I was hauling a living room set and I just removed the tailgate.. didn't want to be hit. People around here drive like maniacs. lol.
