Previous Owner is an idiot
 

He did not torque down the bolts for the front brake calipers. Both bolts became loose. One came out and let the caliper in the passenger front fall down into the rim and tear into the aluminum causing damage and a leak.

Was a simple fix but you can believe I called that guy up and chewed him out for it.

In my opinion, if someone has to have a torque wrench to keep that from happening, they need to keep their hands off of cars in the first place. :twocents[

While I am more than capable of doing the job without the torque bar... I already have one so I might as well use it. If in doubt use a torque bar and the proper spec :)

That sucks. But, I've had the same thing happen to me (and I do know how to use a torque wrench.). Not a fun sound. Haha.

Agreed. Always best to use a torque wrench. Which, given how cheap they are, I should probably get one from harborfreight in 3/8ths.

I have both the inch and foot torque bars. They have been invaluable for working on the motorcycle before I traded it for the truck. Where I had to put the valve cover bolts on with 7 inch pounds of force or they would crack.

If I had done it by hand I would have EASILY broken them.

I didn't use a wrench, I did use loc-tite tho. No problems in the 8 years I owned it.

I had that happen to my old `96 Ranger I used to have.It sawed the aluminum rim in half.Luckily I was coming to a stop at a stop sign when the tire blew.Sounded like a shotgun.I put blue lock tite on the bolts the next day.
